We have been lucky the last two series first with Giannis and now with Simmons where a guy hesitates when he does not have an open lane.   The Freak has a way better jumper.  Simmons has zero confidence outside of three feet from the bucket.   That being said he is still an elite talent.   But he should not be playing PG because he can stay with other PG's, he is a PF.

I have never seen an NBA player that is supposed to be considered great that absolutely never even considers taking an open shot. He even passes up open 15-18 footers. Without the threat of taking the shot he can't be great. I mean if you leave Rondo open he takes the shot. He is not afraid. Giannis will take the shot if he is open but Simmons never even considers it.

hes pretty much a taller/bigger Rondo. solid passing the ball, but cant shoot or hit FT's
Nah. Rondo is one of the best playmaking minds in the NBA. The way he can read defences (and predict opposition offences) is insane.

Ben Simmons can’t even function in the half court

People are being way too critical of Simmons and Embiid.  They both have very little experience at the NBA level and Simmons is just 21 years old.  Both had great seasons and have unlimited potential.  Let's not get ahead of ourselves.  The Celtics have simply done what they were supposed to -- protect home court. Both games were close and the Celts have shot an unsustainable rate from deep.

Theres plenty of reason to be optimistic, but it is foolish to think these guys aren't excellent players.  I enjoy watching them too -- don't find it necessary to trash or underestimate them to be able to enjoy yet another improbably deep playoff run by our guys.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
People compare him to Magic ......i see the play making handle for 6-10 guy .

But upstair s.    ........ Magic had the KG , KD ,MJ drive motivation to win..., I don't see the same

energy and absolute commitment that Magic  imprssed me with.    Simmons is a bit stuck up on himself too ...this may not play i to his favor lattr on with teamates.

When he puts the ball on the floor ,  the quick guards ate learning how to strip him , and they will get better watching video and playing against him , seeing his tendencies.

He does ok in open court , but the quick hands are bothering him when he tries to get fancy dribbling in too close .   He has t move and move th ball with out dribbling , he is unstoppable .   Rondo like.

I agree he doesn't have that KG and MJ motivation, but KD? Are you referring to Kevin 'I went to the team that I lost to in the playoffs because they were better' Durant? I suppose he did show quite a motivation to win by ditching his home franchise for a much better one, but he is pretty much the quintessential mentally weak superstar in this league today.

Did you watch KD during the finals last year? He was anything but mentally weak.

These guys are all motivated. I think MJ's competitive spirit was second to none. KG was up there too.

I'm not worried about Ben Simmons after one bad game. I think he's already a top 20 player and looks like a perennial all star.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

I don't think we were lucky to play Giannis, he was very good against us.

Just like Fultz a consensus number one pick who could not carry his team to the NCAAs.   Those of us who have been around have seen one great player carry a college team.   The Sixers ought to be worried about putting a lot of their eggs in these two baskets.

Jayson Tatum is a rookie and is putting up 20ppg this series, and Jaylen Brown is a 2nd year player who carried our team the last round. I wouldnt use experience as an excuse. Most pundits had this series being over fairly quickly in the sixers favor.

I dont think anyone is trashing Embiid. he has been phenominal but the team has put too much on his shoulders. he has seemingly been exhausted at the end of each game.

Simmons is a unique player in that his skill set doesnt necessarily fit todays NBA. cant shoot, cant hit FT's....he relys on his freak athleticism/finishing ability. So it will be interesting to see how he projects in the NBA.  Celtics seem to have put together a solid gameplan by having Smart harrass him, and trying to keep him on the perimiter where he is pretty much useless.

Rewatching the game this morning I was also wondering how he fits in the modern spread NBA.  I was thinking this same thought.

Rondo has been a major contributor to NOP's playoff success as a heady playmaker and distributor, including last night's performance with 4 points, 10 rebounds, 21 assists.  As a rookie, Simmons has already had four 15 assist games.
