People are being way too critical of Simmons and Embiid. They both have very little experience at the NBA level and Simmons is just 21 years old. Both had great seasons and have unlimited potential. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. The Celtics have simply done what they were supposed to -- protect home court. Both games were close and the Celts have shot an unsustainable rate from deep.
Theres plenty of reason to be optimistic, but it is foolish to think these guys aren't excellent players. I enjoy watching them too -- don't find it necessary to trash or underestimate them to be able to enjoy yet another improbably deep playoff run by our guys.
Jayson Tatum is a rookie and is putting up 20ppg this series, and Jaylen Brown is a 2nd year player who carried our team the last round. I wouldnt use experience as an excuse. Most pundits had this series being over fairly quickly in the sixers favor.
I dont think anyone is trashing Embiid. he has been phenominal but the team has put too much on his shoulders. he has seemingly been exhausted at the end of each game.
Simmons is a unique player in that his skill set doesnt necessarily fit todays NBA. cant shoot, cant hit FT's....he relys on his freak athleticism/finishing ability. So it will be interesting to see how he projects in the NBA. Celtics seem to have put together a solid gameplan by having Smart harrass him, and trying to keep him on the perimiter where he is pretty much useless.
