What I'll suprised about anyone mention is this. Just how garbage he is at finishing around the rim. He should dunk it every time, when he doesn't dunk it he looks like a toddler.

He's a natural righty, who shoots free throws, jump shots and threes left handed, and he drives left like Harden, except he comes back and finishes with his right hand like a fool.

It looks so bad. Seriously my inside scoring game was more refined than his. It's sad. Pathetic really.

Oh well good. For the Celtics. Celtics in Six games.

Many of you break down games and players a lot better than I can.  He just looks phenomenal to me.  21 years old, big and amazingly talented with the ball.  Sees the court and plays incredibly smoothly for a youngster.   With his size and skills I think he is well on his way to being a top 10 player.  If he were a Celtic I am pretty sure most here would be salivating over his potential.  He'll make the all-star team without much question next year.
he didn’t make a single 3 pointer all year. How many point guards.... have ever done that?

Simmons is no pg... he is a point forward

If he can ever make and be confident in taking a 17 foot jump shot....he will be tough to stop

until then, a good team can press on his weakness late in games

Dude you must be watching him in alternative universe. Simmons finishes very well for a first year player.

he is a unique player. cant shoot free throws, cant shoot 3's. but he is a very good passer and has good size. think of a larger rondo.

but, I think c's will expose him in this series. especially once jaylen is back and we put him on simmons

Except his coach, his organisation and he himself say otherwise

He is a super tall Jason Kidd.  If he improves like Kidd did he will be an all time great.  His poise, vision and overall game is pretty impressive.  If he puts the work in he'll be amazing.  C'mon Magic came into the league with no outside shot but he still did pretty good.

He’s not close to the defender Kidd was.

Also Magic both made a three and shot over 80% from the FT line in his rookie season. World apart from Simmons who doesn’t even consider shooting an 18 footer

Respectfully disagree. Simmons is a left handed player. Except he can't finish with his left hand. Watch him closely. He's the strangest star in the league.

name a point forward who didn’t make a single 3 for an entire season

Now name an all star, all time great point forward who didn’t make a single 3 for an entire season

Anthony Mason

Magic Johnson (fits the point forward mold, even if most would list him as a PG).

But how many point forwards are there anyway to even satisfy this question?  Several other Hall of Fame  small forwards have seasons where they haven't hit a 3: James Worthy, Dominique Wilkins, Alex English, Bernard King, Adrian Dantley.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Anthony Mason is one of the least impressive All-Stars you could name, lol.

And those other guys are worlds apart from Simmons in terms of scoring ability. The only guy of those you listed to not win a scoring championship was James Worthy, who was a 2nd/3rd option. Ben Simmons however didn't crack 16ppg. Not comparable

Magic Johnson won a scoring title?  Is Magic Johnson not the perfect comparable here?

And why would you compare prime years of the players I mentioned to Simmons now?  Alex Engligh didn't average over 16ppg till his 4th season, James Worthy till his 3rd.  So not sure why Simmons 15.8ppg this year matters.  Simply listing forwards who had years without hitting a 3.

I'm not sure what's comical about Anthony Mason?  He's one of the few players that fits the question of "point forward."  Again, how many point forwards are there even?  This old, random Bleacher Report article lists him as the 12th greatest point forward of all time, behind Magic at #1, still not sure why you ignored him. How about Grant Hill then?

Just trying to answer the question of forwards who had seasons without a 3.

Not even sure why we need to compare Simmons to anybody though.  Like him or not, clearly a stud, even with weak spots in his game.

He shot 74.4% within 3 feet of the basket. Thats elite for any age let alone a first year plsyer. What are you talking about?

Simmons is most definitely a PG.  He runs the Sixers offense.  With their other starters being, Redick, Covington, Saric and Embiid, he's clearly their PG.  If I recall correctly, he had the most touches and passes of any player in the league.  Right now, he's Rondo in a 6'10 250lb frame.  I agree that he needs to work on his mid range jumper and also his free throws to be elite.

So is Lebron a true PG also?
