I think they resign KO and get Smart and IT resigned. From there I guess they try to add spare parts to fill out the roster. Going to need to get a big ASAP

Ilyasova?
Randolph?
Dedmon?

If we miss on Hayward, let's just blow it up.

Seriously. We never used our assets to help IT and Horford to get a team that can win now, and Hayward should be that piece (whether he's enough or not is another story, but we can agree that he's the help coming in). If we miss out on him, there's no other marquee Free Agent available.

And our cap space won't be there next year with our pending extensions, unless we don't extend anyone.

If we miss out on him, hand the reigns to the young guys. Keep hoarding assets by trading Al and IT. Play the youth. Invest in the draft. Better than that trying to plug in guys just for the sake of using our cap space, something we passed on trading Butler and Boogie for just to have. We had the chance to have a championship contending team and we passed on it. If we whiff this, let's just go back to tanking.

Build thru the draft, right? Then let's freaking do it.
No need to tank. We have Brooklyn doing all the tanking for us. :)

Having said that, if we whiff on Hayward I'd move on from IT. Don't want us to offer him max money in a year's time so I'd try to get whatever I can for him now. But that's just me. If Danny wanted to trade IT, he wouldn't have passed on Fultz.

They needed to spend money this year. Not getting Hayward would hurt that and basically force them into going young. Actually think they resign both Thomas and Bradley

Question: assuming the Cs don't get Hayward, is there any scenario in which the Cs can sign one of IT or Bradley and still go after a max FA next offseason? ie, assuming any other FA they sign this summer is on an inflated one year deal.

I'm relieved the Celts can't waste minutes on Gallo.

Brown and Tatum ... let's play 'em!

He'd be a good fit.

Why?  The guy has no skill, whatsoever, and fouls a lot, iirc.  The only reason he gets on the court is because he can move his feet - woo ::).

Sign an MLE big who's a halfway decent rebounder (which would make him better than any current Celtic).

I feel like we could use an athletic big who can rebound, defend, and block shots.

At this point in the game and for the money we'd want to spend, you aren't really gonna find a full package guy. And you are also unlikely to find a guy who you can confidently place in the long term plans of the team. You are probably gonna have to settle for stop gap type guys who can come on at reasonable money and play a role on the short term so we can continue to be competive while still searching for the long term answer.

Dedmon is a VERY limited player but he has size and can defend and rebound. On short money he'd be a nice duct tape fix for our big situation.

If you want skilled players or guys with well rounded games you are either gonna have to pay through the teeth or take a gamble on an unproven player. If Ainge doesn't want to do that, dedmon offers a nice bandaid for our big man issues.

Wouldn't mind Faried at all. Wonder what the price would be.

I don't see how faried is looking good. His stats have gone down season to season in the past few years. He went from starter minutes and has been playing bench minutes for few years now. He's gotten worse less rebounds and points than ever

Still the best nickname in basketball.  As far as his game goes, the Manimal doesn't really excite me.
