So pretty much nothing's gonna happen we may pick up Buddinger some big nobody wants and call it an offseason?
No I don't think DA even does that. The Budinger thing was supposedly because a big trade would sent out a lot of players (with only 1 or 2 coming back) so DA look for players to fill out the roster.

As walker834 said, the roster is currently 9-deep with quality rotation players (if you include Jaylen) so without a big trade there is simply no need for a Budinger.
Brad uses 10-man rotations routinely. Also, being 9 man deep means you're 1 injury away from having serious issues.
Thomas Bradley crowder horford Amir Rozier smart brown jerebko olynyk. That's the rotation id imagine.
The Celtics have a ten man rotation which means good depth. Though if we were to restate it using Koz's approach to life, the Celtics would only be one injury away from being one injury away from trouble.

Koz tends to see the glass as practically empty. ;D
Apparently so. Most teams would love to have 9 or 10 rotation players all set in July. Budinger? A vet big? A vet wing?  Come on koz, there is simply no need for any of that, unless there is a big trade.

Not sure how much I believe him, but Smitty over on RealGM has detailed a possible agenda that he has heard from multiple people,  for the trades to go through (though he noted that it's very "loose" at this time).
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

One, I tend to have limited expectations about the 19-year old rookie, even if he was picked 3rd in the draft.

Also, our fifth big is a 6'8 second-year player who spent most of his rookie year in the NBDL. That's not good depth. Most of the time in recent memory he have had to go (at least) 5-deep in the big rotation over the course of the season.

A team without veteran third-stringers is not a deep team. That's just a fact. You can't go into the season with 5 rookies/DL-caliber players and expect to be a-ok.

I read Smitty's original forum post. He pretty much talked to some non-Celtics front office people in LV and they told him what they think the Celtics will do -- and he kind of filled in the gaps with his own conjecture.

Anything you see out of Smith is of the "it seems logical that the Celtics..." category, but not anything that's happening for a fact.

Yeah I think that's a good way to describe his post.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I think the chance that this guy has something that the Celtics/Clippers/Kings/NBA beat reporters weren't even able to sniff is minimal. I'm just  tuned in for the inevitable collapse of this string-along... and the ensuing meltdown. Can't stop watching a train wreck.

I think it very well could turn out to be that, however earlier this offseason with the Horford signing it was really pretty well rumored that Woj was doing the Hawks a solid saying they were in the lead for Horford when they clearly weren't and the word dropped a few minutes later he was signing with the Cs. It's plausible, if not likely, that all of the national writers with existing relationships to consider would keep this under wraps and report just what they're told in order to get the scoop before everyone else when there really is something to report.

If it's completely made up, it's really well-concocted, but it's also corroborated by Lifshatz who says that the guy is legit. If it pans out, it would be really interesting. I hope there is a good writer somewhere who can recount the story if it's true. Would make a great piece.
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

The problem is that Lifshatz is a hack himself.

And yes, it seems very well concocted, until you realize that Mike from Watertown is talking with the same authority about people getting and not getting moved that his source wouldn't know about (players not related to Sacramento, the Clippers, or Boston). He just can't help himself.

Moreover, his tweets are 10% bait, 90% trolling the guys who respond to him. And the quality of the bait has gone down, since he's running out of tricks.

Again, that's just my read of it (I'm the glass-fully-empty guy, remember ;) ). Maybe I'll have to eat crow. Or maybe the Celtics will sign Chase Budinger on Monday and call it an offseason.

I promise I would not care about this one way or another if;

1. I lived in a more urban area where I could reliably see rarer Pokemon and had more gyms.

2. It wasn't the boring time of year for the Cs.

So with that said, I generally think trolls and hacks would naturally be cannibalistic and turn on each other. That these two have banded together for no reason makes a certain amount of sense if only so much as one of them had heard something legit.

Anyway, this is all stupid and lame, but it's the time of year and I'm having intermittent server issues on Go, so whatever. I guess to use your metaphor from earlier, I'm here for the train wreck, except in this case it's a train of radioactive materials and that means it could either be really bad (i.e. entertaining) or could be the kind that's a teenage mutant ninja turtles-esque prologue to a basketball game winning superhero.
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

So th clippers just signed Brandon Bass? Why would they need another PF? They also drafted Brice Johnson.

You beat me to it....way too much smoke here... kinda think they are just ironing out the particulars and Doc didn't want a vet like Bass to go. Ive heard also that the Clips are money strapped.
