I think Danny has whetted a lot of appetites by saying he was going after stars. He almost got Durant. But FA stars that big want the easiest way to a Championship. They go to the best teams. So maybe you have to trade for stars. Especially if you have assets, like a ton of high draft picks. I guess that's what he's doing now.

If a Griffin deal doesn't happen this weekend, I guess you have to conclude the rumors were nonsense. Though Griffin or Cousins or Westbrook could happen at some point. Ainge knows he has to do something more. The current team isn't going to move much beyond last year because everybody else is getting better, too.

What do you think their philosophy is?  We had our chance on draft night.  Passed it up.

We had our first shot on draft night. But from the sounds of it, teams wanted a lot. Butler is a really good player, but not all three Nets picks and Smart or AB good. Same with Okafor. Wyc said the prices have come down. Teams don't like to rock the boat too much during the season unless things are going south.

While Butler may be off the table, Okafor is still there and with Saric coming over, they are going to need to get him out of the line up. Noel maybe as well. Both should be cheaper than what they were on draft night.

If Griffin really doesn't like LA and Paul, he could ask for a trade, Doc owes DA for blowing the Jordan for KG part of the deal a few years ago. So he could be had for a reasonable price as well.

Westbrook may cost the most, and I wouldn't give up too much unless he does a small extension. I think LA will out bid on him. They can do Russel and Ingram to jump start OKC's rebuild. But that team is just bad, and he might bolt LA anyways. So if he got the choice, he might lean towards Boston if he cares about winning, if he's more into his extra curricular activities, he'll choose LA.

So still options, and time.
