at the age of 19, Brown is playing exactly how I would assume a kid would play. He is trying to showcase his skill very early on but very wild at times. His athleticism is there, but his decision making is not.
His handles are pretty nice, but he seems to want to play with a full steam all of the time. He needs to slow down a bit and let the game come to him. He either trips or runs someone over. I like the aggressiveness but with his current status, he will either get called for charges or just turn the ball over a lot. This is why I think he is playing about 15-20 minutes early on but nothing more behind Crowder. He isn't ready to commit a lot of minutes to yet. With that said, I still stand by my statement that I love the pick because I think athletic explosive wings are rare in the league. Everyone wants a shooter guard or a big man, but this is just me personally, I love a SF that can slash. He can do exactly that but just could not finish. He is far from a finish product and needs time to develop. My general rule of thumb is 2-3 years. I do not think we are ready to content yet anyways until 4-5 years down the line, so HOPEFULLY, by then he and Smart can both somehow develop somewhat of an offense. If both can stay relatively healthy for the next few years, I can see that happen.
Brown in my honest opinion is probably already a better offensive player than Smart was coming out his first year, so I am going to stay optimistic for the time being and being patient. Besides it's only summer league, us losing 2 games in a row is the least of my worries. Simmons has a bad game his first game but he was playing injured. Same could be said about Brown. And last time I checked, a hyper-extended knee is probably worse than calf cramps.
