I like Jaylen.  I think the guys people are hyping up like Bentil and jackson may be the ones who get traded.

Jaylen and Yab were great picks. Havent seen Zizic yet but like that one too.

I hate the pick, too. I gave up on Ainge as a drafter, though. Honestly believe he just tries to be "cute" by reaching on guys in the event that one exceeds expectations and makes him look like a genius. How else can you explain his repetition of "reaches" that never pan out?

We've had a ton of picks lately but most of Danny's choices seem to fall into just a few categories:

1. Guys that we project to defend multiple positions well.  Ex. Bradley/Smart/Rozier/Brown.

2. Guys that were highly regarded but fell due to a bad year, injury issues, etc.  Ex. Bradley (again), Sully, Rondo.

3. Stretchy 4s.  Ex. Olynyk, JJJ, Yabu, Sully.

4. Defensive but limited bigs on cheap deals. Ex. Perk, Melo, Mickey, probably Zizic.

Most of the rest are 2nd rd dice rolls and Young/Hunter, who are probably just the shooter version of #4.  He's not always reaching but he definitely has priorities that lead to reaches.

Great post -- more insightful than my perspective.  The pattern seems to hold true.

It may be that he views the draft as a way of developing a solid supporting cast -- with said priorities in mind -- and feel more confident / comfortable with landing  stars by winning trades.  I can see how history would contribute to his feeling that way.

We knew he could not shoot very good when they drafted him.

Danny is loves guys who can shoot but play defense .

I wanted Noel / Oakfor .....we need a young Big

His shooting is not what worries me. You can't shoot, fine.

What worries me is he doesn't dribble, pass, rebound, defend off the ball, or really do anything well aside from seek contact inside.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

We drafted for need. End of story.

This is the Bobby Knight line. We need a Small Forward. Bobby, Then play Dunn at Small Forward.

I think this is a bit of an overreation. He can rebound, has a solid dribble (though lose with it sometimes.) and is good defender.

I haven't really seen any evidence of the rebounding or dribbling in this summer league.

We should give brown plenty of time before passing any lasting get judgments. But there's no question he stinks right now. He's super raw. More so than I expected. He doesn't do anything well in summer league other than defend one on one and get to the free throw line. That doesn't bode well for his rookie year at the NBA level.

I have a strong feeling we are gonna be putting all of our practice of rationalizing a player with terrible offensive numbers - - that we've honed watching Marcus Smart - - to good use with jaylen brown.

Summer League.

I would trade Brown in some deal for Oakfor in a New York minute

Trade Rozier m Brwn , Hunter for one Noel or Oakfor .....

This is kinda crazy really all these little guys Danny is collecting .

Expecting Mickey to battle 7 ft monsters

Never let Thorton wear any type of Boston shirt again......not even as a fan.  ;D

Brown has the body, but yeah, right now he stinks. For a guy who is supposed to be a brainiac, he doesn't show a lot of mental game right now. I don't like how he looks when he's off the ball, offensively and defensively.

You can imagine the potential given how his body looks at nineteen. But man, right now, he doesn't look like he's very good at basketball.

I feel the same.. I don't like how he looks off the ball right now either.. he looks lost.. concerning.. reminds a lot of jeff green except jeff green could shoot. Lets hope he can learn.

Jaylen brown reminds me a lot of Harrison Barnes. Meh.
