Gosh I Want to defend Young so bad but today I was just in shock at how bad he was on defense.. Everybody blew by him and most of these guys today will be Coaching little league in a couple weeks..
Can you lose Athleticism? 

I think its mental with him though.. Every interview he always mentions "Well I Am Young." I think the everybody has beat this into his head and he just isnt hitting it as hard as he needs to be. I think he believes he will grow into it or something..

Funny thing, during the game they pulled up his profile and had the Age as 30 - and neither of the Stupid commentators said anything about it..  The Crazy thing was It got me to thinking that when he turns 30 he would probably still be the same player..

As someone said in the game thread, trade him for something, maybe a reclamation project and a 2nd rounder. He still has potential and maybe another team wants to give him a shot.

yes his defence was woeful but his confidence for once showed....that three pointer bomb at the end hopefully will be the turning point in his life lol! In order to win the summer league, he has to contribute! So let's see :) relax people xD time is on our side xD

I'm so not pro-James Young, but commentary on this kid is so negatively skewed its almost ridiculous...

James Young was drafted for his offensive upside. Celtics is near the bottom of the league in 3-point scoring and in the last two games the kid has hit 6 of 7. Newsflash most NBA players aren't two-way players, they specialize in one end of the court and try to be serviceable on the other end. So knocking an offensive player on their defense is like saying you won't take Dirk Nowitzki because he doesn't block shots. If at 20 years old, he's at this stage I'm actually encouraged. I will stick with Young until he's around 24 for the simple reason that you have rookies like Hield and Dunn that at 23 are just entering the league. The problem with making the jump to the pros early is that whilst he would be playing several more games for his college team when he became pro he mostly rides the pine. Treat him like a draft-and-stash, but from what I've seen thusfar I'm encouraged.

I agree, Young could develop into a nice 3 point specialist, like Korver.

I agree, Young could develop into a nice 3 point specialist, like Korver.

Yeah, the shooting has been nice and he has proven it over the long haul in the D-League. However, once he is ready to really contribute, he will be past his rookie contract and getting paid a lot more. If another team is interested, then I am willing to move on from him. It's too bad we weren't able to stash him at the start of his rookie contract.

Why do we need to cut him?  Not really seeing anyone else on our summer league roster worth cutting him over.  I don't see where overpaying some vet with limited upside helps us either.  Find me a better option.  Young can play in the d-league.

From what i'm seeing he shouldn't be cut he has made all but one 3 these 2 games. His confidence has improved and his offense has started to show. He is a 3 pointer shooter and is starting to look reliable. His defense is bad he can't stick anybody but he has gotten some steals he has a knack for reading passing lanes because I have seen him do this in game with his limited minutes I think he just needs to deny the ball everytime he is on the floor and that could help cover up his defense
