At least we know what kind of guy he is.

Exactly. He's not Celtics-material if he's going to prioritize money over winning like that.

There's absolutely no question in my mind that Atlanta right now is a worse team than they were last year, and adding Horford to that trio will only make a tenuous fit even worse. There's a reason Horford has played the 5 his entire career in Atlanta..

Or they are a better team with Horford at the 4 and Howard at the 5.

It can be argued.

Really going to blame a guy to stay at his "home" for more money instead of a team that had a similar record?

No, it absolutely cannot. That's a terrible, terrible fit.

I'm not blaming him for staying home. He's not doing this to "stay home." He would've accepted a lower offer to just stay in Atlanta. Rather, he's doing this solely for financial reasons. He's not a winner, and he prioritizes money over winning. That's fine, but he needs to come out and admit it. He's not a winner; he's Melo-lite.

If he went to OKC, I would be disappointed, but I wouldn't be mad like this. This just shows his true character. I thought he was a winner, but apparently I was wrong and money matters more to him.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Maybe Horford doesn't like Millsap for whatever reason. Pure speculation on my part

This is just kind of dumb from Atlanta's perspective.  Now you have a major roster imbalance at the 4 or 5.  One of Horford, Howard or Milsap is going to come off the bench now.  Howard seems like a big name signing but he doesn't really give the hawks what they need, ie scoring.

If we were being used as bait, then it wasn't the 1st time or the last.  I am not as upset as others on here about Horford.  I am still not sure there is this really strong connection between him and Durant.  Hard for the fans to know what is really going on behind the scenes.

It's about money if he chooses atlanta. It's that simple.  Guaranteed money.

Yeah, the same as pretty much everybody.

And people need to stop acting like a jilted lover.  Guys will do what best for them every time.  And that's fine.

Yeah, we should respect the multi-millionaire, 1%er because he prioritized even more money over winning. BS. If Melo got crap for staying in New York, then Horford deserves it, too. That's absolutely him just chasing the money and prioritizing it over winning. That's the definition of a treadmill team, but it is Atlanta, what else would you expect?
I guess you misse the jilted lover part?

Michael Scotto @MikeAScotto
Sources: Hawks preparing a full max offer to keep Al Horford. Kent Bazemore among those strongly recruiting Al Horford to stay in Atlanta.

So they found a trading partner for Milsap right?  They had to send out salary somehow to get the cap space for the max offer right?

Splitter and Thabo would create enough space.

Well if that is true, then this is a done deal.  Atlanta is creating their own roster problems at the same time.

Guess this will eliminate us from KD's list of teams? If Horford signs for ATL there won't be another big name left in FA...

He's a shrewd businessman when it comes down to it. Wade has done this to the Heat every free agent year that he's entered. It is what it is. These pro atheletes operate in a different world than us in terms of financials. The money is a part of the "winning". He's "winning" free agency if he gets that 5th year.  The level of competitiveness is there for some of these guys at every level

its a tiny bit different because Horford has played his entire career in Atlanta and his team just beat us in the playoffs. With Melo, the Bulls were a ready-made contender. That team would have pushed Lebron probably better than anyone since he took control of the East.

Well, it all ended up working out for Melo didn't it? Chicago was the best fit for him at the time and now the two key cogs (D.Rose and Noah) are in NY.

I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about
