I wish we could make a Millsap deal instead of getting Horford at all but we'd kinda be undercutting ourselves there.  Tricky spot to be in.

Yeah, I honestly would, too. However, like you said, it's not like you can float that idea to Durant, too, lol

I'm guessing that Horford is on the phone in this meeting, or at least has been in contact with them during this. It's not a coincidence that he's holding off until after the meeting to decide on his place.

Dude because they have never won. They have no upside. Do you not see that? They're an older team with limited capability of improving. The Celtics on the other hand are on the upswing. Nobody thinks we're the better team, but if we sign Horford, we'll still have a max contract to add on the team. It seems fairly clear to me.
Yes, there is an awful lot of ifs there, and Atlanta already made a pretty substantial signing. I think it is pretty clear cut Atlanta is the better team at this point -- not to mention they have home advantage. This whole thing about Horford "choosing money over winning" is crazy talk.

If they have to move Milsap to keep Horford, that not only negates the Howard signing, they take a significant step backwards. They also gave away Teague for nothing. So I ask again, what major pieces did they add? You have to take into account the major pieces they gave away. The net value is negative.

Pretty much, TP.

Thanks dude, TP back at you

I expect to hear in about an hour or so that Horford has agreed to a slightly below max deal to stay in Atlanta and that Millsap has been traded to Philly for picks.
I dont think Philly needs another big, even a guy like Millsap who can shoot.

There's absolutely no incentive for Philly to trade for a PF when they just drafted one with the number one pick..

Not to mention Saric coming over this year, too!

What teams other than us have that much cap space where they can simply take on Milsap? Phoenix?

You are correct.  I think the Milsap trade is likely because ATL got pushed with the Boston offer, almost like an 'oh $h!t we might lose both guys for nothing'

yes, but those guys are big time projects. How about Minnesota? would Rubio and a pick get a conversation started?

Sources: Hawks preparing a full max offer to keep Al Horford. Kent Bazemore among those strongly recruiting Al Horford to stay in Atlanta.

It was fun while it lasted.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Sources: Boston, Washington falling back on Al Horford, with Hawks strengthening in belief that a deal can be reached to re-sign him.

I HATE Atlanta. So much. And I hate Al. Using us as a tool. Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. him
