So, if Durant would agree to come here if Horford does, couldn't we just up the offer and offer both Durant AND Horford a 1 + 1 deal? I think that would stump any offer from the Hawks, and we'd essentially have to do it if that was the only way to get both of them here.
I think the alleged link between Durant's and Horford's decision is likely fictional.

I don't think so whatsoever. There's a reason OKC was trying to clear space to get him. He's clearly a coveted player of Durant's.

Sources: Market for Paul Millsap has been strong, flurry of calls, trade proposals. Several teams tell me they've been active talking to ATL

Wojo
I wonder what hed cost? Id love him in Boston. Prefer him to Horford actually.

Whatever it is you can bet your butt he'll be sent out West.

Yep this entire time ATL has been shopping Millsap. Feels like a formality at this point.

I hope we take advantage of this and grab Milsap. He's significantly better than Horford.

The fisherman has hit a snag.  Chipotle Danny needs to spice up his burrito somehow.
Have Brady and Giselle give him a call. Giselle can call his wife. She's an actress or something.

Have the local Dominican community call him. Isn't Papi Dominican? They can open a restaurant together.

Horford should hold out for a no-trade clause from Atlanta in addition to the 5 years, given how they've negotiated with him this entire time.

So are you still thinking Horford didn't use us as leverage?

Depends what we give up for him though.  Horford is just money.

I'm betting it's either Durant and Horford or neither of them at all. I think that's ultimately what Horford is waiting on.

I'd still like to get Milsap if we lose out on Horford, but I doubt Atlanta wants to ship him to us in the East, especially being the main opponent for Horford.

  • Let's Go Celtics!

He's also had 2 season ending pectoral surgeries. Maybe he's prioritizing financial security over winning for right now.

Talking about "financial security" for these players is non-sense. He'll have plenty of "financial security" with a four year max in Boston. Nobody needs that much money.

Exactly. If you want to say he values more money over winning, sure, but don't talk about financial security. He's not a young player looking for his first big contract, Horford has already gotten paid and then some, and will again with whichever team he choses.

Let me rephrase then, it's possible he prioritizes money over whatever magical Banner 18 farm we're offering right now.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

It's possible he simply thinks that Atlanta will be a better team over the next few seasons.

Probably cost us Crowder. Hawks have backcourt and big positions locked up.

Crowder or the Brooklyn pick. I think they are the only assets we have that they would be interested in that could get Atlanta interested.

Did he decide not to sign with us yet? I have always preferred Milsap over Horford. I just thought Milsap wasnt available.

Then he's no different than Melo, and I don't really care if he's not a Celtic. Simple as that. I don't see how this would be any different than Melo's decision, especially when both of them have talked about "winning" being the main goal.

I'll be so disappointed in Horford if that happens.
