I truly believe Tatum will retire as a Celtic. But just for fun, if u could trade Tatum now, for who would u straight up? Here?s mine:

For sure:
Jokic
Luka
Wemby
SGA

Maybe:
Cunningham
Flagg
Edwards

If u guys think of anyone else or make your own list
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Id stick with Tatum over anyone. He isn't perfect but he is a Celtic. If guys are only marginally better than him just show some loyalty and ride with the guy that helped win a chip..

Based upon Brad's most recent trade, I'd say Kevin Durant and a pick swap.

My first thought was Jimmy Butler, but he's an expiring contract.

Barf.

If Tatum goes, a proven superstar needs to be the return.

And since Tatum is a bigtime Kobe fan, can ship him to LA for Doncic.

It's too early after the injury to gauge him accurately.

Jokic, Wemby, SGA, or Flagg. That's it.

I'd hesitate a bit with Flagg given it's just his second season right now, but the ceiling with him is enormous

Sums up the feelings I still harbor as well.

Tatum is a strange superstar to have. Even though he is 6'9 220, his game can be very hot/cold. He isn't on the consistent offensive level of the Jokics/SGA/Lukas of the world. However, when Tatum is "on" or "hot" he is one of the truly most unguardable stars in the game.

Luckily for us, he IS consistent in his effort, defense, and rebounding. Honestly out of that star tier (other than Jokic) he is probably the most consistent at staying engaged in all other aspects when he is struggling to score. His development as a true playmaker has also been a treat.

A 90% game from Tatum is a top 3 player in the league. We just all wish he could do it a little more often or more readily in the big moments

How do people see Brown and Tatum as remotely similar in value?  I really don't understand.  Tatum has been 1st team all NBA 4 times in a row.  I wouldn't trade Tatum for Luka, I wouldn't trade Tatum for Jokic (too old), I wouldn't trade Tatum for Flagg (he will never have 4 consecutive 1st team all-nbas).....

I'd consider SGA but it's pretty lateral and I value wings more.  Wemby is an injury risk.  Edwards isn't as good as Tatum straight up and I value wings more. Tatum has been to the Finals twice and the ECF 5 times in 8 seasons (this is currently his 9th).  So he goes to the ECF more than half the time.  Like who else is going to do that??? Maybe SGA that is literally it.

This is going to sound crazy, but nobody.  I would not trade him, period.

I view Tatum as a top 5-6 player in the league, and a believe that if you have a homegrown player of that calibre then you hold on to them.

I agree with all of this.

Tatum is an extremely rare thing.  A guy who is 6'8"-6'9" who (when healthy) is an elite scorer, a ballpark double figure rebounder, and a highly versatile defender who can switch defensively onto any position.  Then on top of all that he's also extremely clutch, and the past few years has also started to emerge as one of the best passing wings in the game.

When you build around a like Luke, you need to surround him with guys who can compensate for his defensive weaknesses.  When you build aronnd Giannis or Lebron you need shooters to stretch the floor so they can get into the paint.  When you build around a guy like Embiid you need a strong backup center and a versatile defensive four who to help compensate for his health issues and terrible perimeter D.

Tatum doesn't really have a single major weakness in his game. There are things he can improve on sure, but no one glaring weakness that teams can consistently exploit.  Havng a guy like Tatum on your team is an unbelievable luxury.  His versatility makes him an incredibly easy person to build a roster around.

And then there are the intangibles.  He's an extremely hard worker who is highly coachable, keeps himself in great physical shape, plays well with the media, doesn't miss a lot of games, doesn't cause off-court drama or get himself suspended/ejected from games, doesn't argue with coaches.  Tatum is a coach's dream.
