I said it earlier in this thread, but I think there's avery good chance we get either Okafur or Butler from this pick.
We are really lucky to have this pick and the 76ers apparently really like Kris Dunn.
If the Bulls like Bender (or Dunn), there is a serious chance they'll give up Butler to get one of them.

Two scenarios:
Bulls get:Okafur, 2017 Boston pick, Avery Bradley
76ers get:Kris Dunn, RJ Hunter.
Celtics get: Butler

Or

76ers get: 3rd pick, 2017 Celtics pick, Terry Rozier.
Celtics get: Okafur

You realize the 2017 Celtics pick has swap rights with Brooklyn, right? That seems like a major overpay for either of them.

You realize the 2017 Celtics pick has swap rights with Brooklyn, right? That seems like a major overpay for either of them.

To be honest, bender could very well be a better nba player than okafur.  This is an overpay for a player with poor defense and attitude, it seems to me.

New Lowe article is up, and since he was present, he revealed how close the Celtics were to losing the 3rd pick.

After the lottery gods awarded the Lakers the No. 2 pick, league officials began drawing the four-number combo that would determine which team would pick third. The first three numbers: 9, 4, 7. If the final number were eight or higher, Minnesota, in the No. 5 slot, would leapfrog both Phoenix and Boston. If it came up as a 5 or 6, Phoenix and Boston would flip places. A 1 or 2 would mean a re-draw, because the Sixers and Lakers owned those combinations.

Wyc Grousbeck, the Celtics owner and drawing room rep, was reduced to this: hoping for "3," the only ball that would hold Boston in the No. 3 slot, a one-in-eleven shot at that exact moment.

You can say that drafting 3 to 6 doesn't matter because of the gap between the top 2 and the rest, but just imagine how extra miserable and conspiratorial some of you would be if the pick was 4 or 5.

Our savvy, inquisitive posting had the league feeling the heat, forcing them to throw us a bone by rigging that final ball in our favor despite their intense desire to screw us over due to reasons.  A small victory, but the battle is not over.

Was thinking about this further today and here is the absolute best way you can spin the #3 pick:

- Most everyone says it is a 2 person draft, Simmons and Ingram.  Thus there is little to no chance either the #1 or #2 pick do not end up Simmons/Ingram.

- Let's take those two out of the draft completely.  We essentially have the #1 pick of the rest of the draft.

- Now let's say that everyone is mostly wrong about at least Simmons or Ingram.  We thus are basically guaranteed the best shot at selecting the player who SHOULD (in theory) have been selected #1 or #2 overall.

How's that for spin?

simply because prior to workouts, people are saying it is a two person draft, does not make it a two person draft. last season okafur was considered the #1 pick by everyone early on. that changed. then it was a two person draft with towns and okafur. but porzingas showed it was more than two people. i would rather have porzingas than okafur now.

in the majority of drafts a number of all stars have emerged that were unexpected. i expect this draft to follow that pattern.

at number 3 ainge might get the best player of the entire draft. we wont know for a few years more, so let's be patient.

Odds are Boston is pick swapping 1st rounders with Brooklyn next year. Don't see any way Brooklyn would finish with a better record than Boston.

I don't think so, the Nets seemed to be leaning towards asset gathering.
