Abby Chin is annoying. The media hypes this stuff up and these players when they don't work in the front office then they are all disapointed when they don't get what they wanted.  I can't stand the media telling people how to think.  It was the same with Embiid when he drafted Marcus.  Marcus is going to be a beast. Entering his 3rd year.  We are going to get a really good player here too.

Boston has never been about hype.  None of these reporters are even from Boston.

A lot can happen between now and the draft.

Bender could show up in the States and turn out to be amazing.

Someone could absolutely crush workouts and challenge the top two.

Simmons or Ingram could get injured and drop a la Embiid.

Worst case scenario, we have one of the best organizations in the NBA picking from the best of the rest. If there's a diamond in the rough, you have to trust them to find him.

The third pick is fine.

I had a strong feeling Philly and LA would be one and two in some order.

Celts were one higher than I expected though.   That's cool.

We needed at a min . third pick to carry decent weight in some trade deal.

I agree we were fortunate to avoid 4-6

My main sandness at #3 is ainge's health.  #1 or #2 we pick a sf, our need position (or center no top choices though).  So who do we pick at #3 or package deal etc.  Poor Danny's going to be a busy stressed out boy!

If people are rioting over the fact that the Celtics have the 3rd pick, I can't imagine if they landed the 6th pick.

I understand the disappointment.  We probably are not going to get any better of a player at 3 than we would have at 5 or 6.  Somehow it feels better to get Hield at 5 than at 3.  I know that isn't necessarily rational but I think it is how people are feeling.

Besides trading the 3rd overall pick this could be the worst landing spot from a drafting perspective.
I'm looking for Ainge to take Jaylen Brown or Dragan Bender 3rd overall and have the entire Celtic community revolting. I may be pessimistic, but I've learned to never be optimistic with Ainge drafting.
Past drafts:

2013:
Kelly Olynyk
2014:
Marcus Smart
James Young
2015:
Terry Rozier
RJ Hunter
Please people tell me how anyone should become excited over that draft resume

Shortsighted post.

2013 - Number of players in the next 10 picks that are clearly better than KO: 1 (Giannis). Number of players who are arguably better than KO: 1 (Deing)

2014 - Number of players in the next 10 picks that are clearly better than Smart: 0
Number of players who are arguably better than Smart: 3 (Payton, Randle, Levine - and I think Smart is better than all of those guys)

2015 - Too early to tell

In short, you seem to want Ainge to draft players that aren't there.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

Aaah lottery curse strikes the Celtics again!

During the Duncan draft, we slip to 3rd and end up with Billups - who ironically ended up becoming a great player, just not with us.  And just not a franchise player.

During this draft, the top two prospects who could be franchise type players... of course we slip to 3rd overall.  Will we get the next Billups.  Will we be patient enough to develop that player, or will we just trade the #3 pick now in a package for a star ie Butler, George, Cousins, or Griffin??

#3? I'll take it! Maybe Simmons or Ingraham slide, but unlikely. There will be good players available at #3, I'm happy we didn't slide all the way to #6.

Or maybe we look back in 3-5 years and say 'wow Simmons was overrated.'

Yep, that's my hope.  We always take so much stock in the pre-draft rankings.  It's not unheard of for the 3rd pick to be the best of the bunch.  But, not happy right now.

Then trade down the Celtics have the assets.

I think it would be bad if they land 6th.

No reason to believe Celts will take a risk on Bender unless he kills workouts. Not sure we can beat out other teams looking for a Butler or Cousins, either. Bummer. So close to that #2!

I don't think Scal, A Sherrod or Kyle Draper know what they are talking about.

this could be a blessing in disguise to me.

Could have been so much worse.  I'm content.

Yeah me too.  I figured the Celtics would get the number five pick so I'm pretty happy.

Bender is Tyler Zeller at best.

If Tyler Zeller could cover three positions and shoot threes he'd be pretty awesome.
