If people are rioting over the fact that the Celtics have the 3rd pick, I can't imagine if they landed the 6th pick.

I understand the disappointment.  We probably are not going to get any better of a player at 3 than we would have at 5 or 6.  Somehow it feels better to get Hield at 5 than at 3.  I know that isn't necessarily rational but I think it is how people are feeling.

You are very, very wrong. Look at historical trends and you'll find the #3 pick is quite valuable and quite a bit more valuable than a #5 or a #6.

http://www.82games.com/nbadraftpicks.htm

Since 1980 49% of #3 picks have been All Stars. That number is 29% for #4s, 31% for #5s and 20% for #6s.

This draft is unique. The quality of prospect at 3 and 6 here are pretty similar. Bright side is we get our pick of the litter,

Yeah, I mean it's not like it's terrible that we're third, but it does suck picking third in a 2 player draft.

The last time I heard "two player draft", the guy picked 3rd made 4 All-Star games (Al Hortford).
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

We aren't the lakers. We are a playoff team. The lakers are building around Randall and Russell and a twig in Ingram or a ball hog in Simmons. Let Danny do his job.  I just look at his face when he talks to the media and I feel his pain. No one listens to him.

Somewhere Celtics tradition was lost imo where people don't understand the celtics do things differently.

They've never had the #1 pick and have done just fine.

The media just likes to state the obvious and drive ratings.

What are the odds that either Philly or LA becomes enamored with Bender, and lets either of Simmons or Ingram fall to us?

I think the odds are zero for Philly and maybe 10% for LA.    LA passed on Okafur and (hindsight talking) Porzingus last year.  They may not regret not getting Okafur, but if they think there is another Porzingus in this year's draft, I think they may bite.

It Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing blows because there is no sure pick at #3. I don't see anyone that excites me.

Yeah never underestimate the ineptitude of the Lakers.

But Bender is a poor fit with Randle.  Ingram works perfectly for them.

Man oh man people. Just earlier today nearly everyone was saying "I am expecting 6 or 5. Anything else is a bonus." Here we are with the 3rd pick and everyone's mad. Is it disappointing when things don't work out the way we want them to? Sure, but we are in a dang good spot!

Seriously.

When I said the Nets pick was "likely a top 5 pick" at the beginning of the season many people scoffed at the idea. If someone had said the Nets pick would be third the entire board would be jumping for joy.

Now it's the same "doom and gloom" people who somehow think the 3rd pick in the draft is somehow garbage. Personally, I can't wait to see what the Cs do but I feel like it's Christmas.

C'mon man, that's just how some people cope with the stress.

Imagine you go downtown on a friday night, and don't expect to get laid, then this beauty shows up and flirts with you for an hour, but ultimately leaves you hanging, do you say to yourself "Oh well, I didn't expect to score, anyway"?

or you go out not expecting to get laid and a fat ugly woman flirts with you and you go home with her and get aids to boot, that's pick 4+ had we dropped back. With the 3rd pick at least you had a pretty woman make you feel good about yourself, go home and pleasure yourself with the thought of her and have no added disease... 3rd pick!

Erm...I think you took that metaphor a step too far, but, sure, you have a point.  ;D
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Bender is Tyler Zeller at best.

If Tyler Zeller could cover three positions and shoot threes he'd be pretty awesome.

Bender is slow as Christmas....plays in a joke league.
No he is not. He gets rave reviews for being able to run the court. Plus his perimeter defense is impressive. And how tall is he?

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I think that's the disappointment.  top 2 prospects have a higher anticipated ceiling.  the next level of players still figures to be good, just not a foundation-level player

to say this is a 2 player draft before the work outs is absolutely insane. Let's see how these guys do in team work outs.  That is when the rankings and buzz emerge.

Wonder if Ingram or Simmons will agree to work out for Celtics.

Bender has a 9'3" wingspan.  The guy can run, shoot and block shots and pass the ball.  He is basically what Zeller should be. Danny has an opportunity to really build this team through the draft.

They'll probably draft Bender.  ;) Could you imagine if the Lakers had Porzingis instead?

it also stinks that we have to wait another 5 weeks to see what Danny does with all these picks

You never know. Very nearly the same thing was said last year about Towns and Okafor, and LA ended up with Russell after watching him workout  and all of the draft process. There's still the chance that Ingram could fall to three, especially if he would not do well in some workouts or one of the other ones stand out.

Danny is not going to draft Bender. Danny wants Buddy Heild at #3. I do not see Danny successfully trading #3 for Cousins or Butler without using a future Brooklyn pick and Danny don't wanna part with those picks. Heild is going to be our guy as he should be
