Here's the scary thing. We're sitting at 3rd.  We need a top 2 or this draft is a bust like in 2007.  If the lottery is fixed which I think it is, then lakers Boston sixers will be the order.  Teams like the Sixers should not be rewarded every year for their incompetence.

My hopes for the Celtics

1. Ben Simmons.  "AD Lite"
2. Brandon Ingram "KD Lite"

.
.
3. Bobby Hield. "James harden lite"

Disagree...franchise players have been picked after #2.

Nice work triboy!

I respect your opinion because you hit on Mickey and thus far it looks like you are spot on.

Minor quibble - I think Bender and Brown would be good for the Celtics as well.

if there was a such a thing as a fix, then karma should bite the incompetent teams in the butt.

1. Celtics (finally some karmic justice)
2. Minny (reward them for rebuilding with dignity)
3. Lakers (keep the pick from going to Philly.  I could live with this since #3 prospect isn't on the level of Simmons or Ingram)
4. Philly (because they can't get a worse pick than this)

I haven't been impressed with Hield's ball handling, it's adequate for a 2 guard but I don't see a point guard in him.  I think that makes Harden a poor comp.  I think he'll be more of a Reddick or Ray Allen type player, coming off screens and scoring that way.  Maybe Beal is a good comp.

Only watched Ellenson once and he got bullied underneath by a physical opponent.  Love actually isn't a bad comp.  More physical than KO, but doesn't have his ball handling skills.   Don't see Big Country or Gasol at all.

I agree with the Durant comps for Ingram, at least as a ceiling.  Not quite as long or explosive.

Simmons might not even make March Madness, which would be a shame.

I think Bender has enough upside that he will be mentioned as the same breath as Ingram and Simmons when things are all done. So I don't think getting the 3rd pick will be really that terrible.

I believe that if we land outside the top tier (starting at either 3 or 4 depending on how you like Bender) then we will trade our pick plus other assets for either Blake Griffin or Love.

Danny said that he had a team back out of a deal last minute for a star, so I think Danny will have a chance at Blake or Love this offseason. If we land in the top 3 though I think the C's will just keep the pick.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I think anyone with a bball eye can see that Mickey can play. But let's slow down. He hasn't cracked the rotation and we haven't seen if him being undersized will be a problem or not.

Jaylen Brown can play on this Celtics team.

He is probably the best slasher/finisher in the draft. He's also pretty gritty.

I get the concerns. He's not polished. Lacks a jumpshot. But he can play hard nosed D and give us a guy who can take it to the rim.

what i am getting from the posts in this thread, and thank you all for your insights, is that there are at least 6 credible players for the celtics to choose from. great!!!

the ranking seems to roughly be:

top tier = ignram and simmons
next tier = ellenson, heid, bender, dunn, brown

the players within each tier can be shuffled around in any order.

if this is true, the celtics are almost assured of getting one of the above players. to me, that means this will be a good draft since the celtics get a good player or can trade for a good player.

His shooting is OK. It can sharpen up

The issues also are shaky handles,  tunnel vision to score. Rather go through an adventure than make the easy pass/drop off.  Also not a good team defender

Maybe these things can be fixed. I don't know, risky if you ask me

Didn't realize that Ellenson has a 7'2 wingspan and 9'1 reach.

If these measurements are true, I think I could warm up to taking him in the top 6.

I know Lab looks bad right now but he will kill it in work outs and testing so he is going top 5. Remember draft is also about what a player can become and he has a high ceiling.

He plays solid 1v1 D.

Celts do a ton of switching on the perimeter so your concerns on help D could be a problem. But he has the quickness to switch onto a guard and the toughness to help on a power forward. So he has the potential to fit nicely in Stevens Defense with his versatility.

I haven't watched Brown enough to have any feel for him, but I watched part of a game recently and the commentators were raving about how much he has improved during the season.  Maybe they were blowing smoke, but it was a positive thing to hear.
