• GM Billy King is conceding privately what we all know: The Nets aren’t making the playoffs. So it’s time to start breaking up the team. So far, Charlotte has called to try to deal for Bojan Bogdanovic, the team’s top 3-point marksman, Sporting News has learned. If Joe Johnson doesn’t get moved at the deadline, he’s seen as a prime candidate for a buyout.

But why buy out Johnson? Is he getting in the way of better up and coming talent? With RHJ out for a while, I don't see any reason for them not to try and field a somewhat talented team...unless they planning on tearing the entire team down and getting as many 'assets' as possible.

Probably just the money they could save.  If he wants out, he may leave a lot of money on the table
I'm bitter.

Just looking at the Nets schedule.  There is a 3 game mini stretch Feb. 5-8 and then an 11 game stretch in Late Feb / Early March that will go a very long way in determining where they end up:

Feb. 5-8

vs. Sacto
@ Philly
vs. Denver

Feb. 23 - Mar. 15

@ Portland
@ Phoenix
@ Utah
@ Clippers
@ Lakers
@ Denver
@ Minny
@ Tor
@ Philly
vs. Milwaukee
vs. Philly

Lot's of road games, but all of those, with the exception of Clippers and Toronto are very winnable games, the way the Nets look now.  The second stretch starts a week after the trade deadline, so hopefully they've made some kind of trade to weaken their team or the starters have worn out.  Should be a fun or nervous time for C's fans, depending on how things work out.

There is a fairly trustworthy report saying that the Hornets have called the Nets inquiring about Bogdonovic.

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/25441812/report-hornets-interested-in-trade-for-nets-bogdanovic

He is the ONLY person on BK who can hit a 3 consistently and he's only hitting .337 or so right now.  The Nets are I think the worst 3 point shooting team in the league, so this would be a blow unless they got someone really good back.

He makes $3,425,510 a year in the trade machine, so the guys in that range on the Hornets are:

Cody Zeller ($4.2 Million)
Frank Kaminsky ($2.6 Million)
Jeremy Lamb ($3.034 Million)
Psycho T ($0.95 Million)
Troy Daniels ($0.94 Million)
Aaron Harrison ($0.5 Million)
Brian Roberts ($2.854 Million) He sucks and is a point guard, so this would be a great-yet-plausible trade for our pick

I guess Lamb but he's just a shooter. Not much game. Can't see him helping the Nets all that much.

do the nets really play 9 games in a row on the road? if so, they may have trouble beating even philly at the tail end of that one. wow.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Probably a circus road trip or something like that.  A few teams have that quirk.

Philly is on a tear as well winning 3 of their last 10 games.

Love the fact that this can be sentence.

Fivethirtyeight's predictions, which take into account road games, has Brooklyn losing all of the road games in that second stretch lol and winning the last 2 home games

edit: wow, I'm colton iverson smh

Game is far from over, but this looks like an uphill climb for the Nets.  Magic are really taking it to them tonight.

Magic have only scored 7 pts in last 15 minutes or close to that.

Orlando was getting whatever they wanted for the first 9 minutes of the game, picking apart Brooklyn's defense with crisp ball movement.  The minute their bench came in this all stopped, and they haven't found a rhythm since.

Orlando's bench was really bad.  Seemingly lot of potential there though with Hezonja and Gordon.  Still overall a pretty poor bench with Napier, Hezonja, Gordon, Nicholson, and Smith.
