Correct.  They'd instead send a 2017 2nd rounder.

Also, they would keep their 2nd this year from being sent to Minensota, as it's protected 31-45.  You don't miss the playoffs for a 2bd, I know, but it's added incentive.

Well, Toronto sucked and of course Chicago failed us, but at least Phoenix did us a favor! They pick up one more win and we're solely in third!

Nope.  Tied in the win column with the Nets for 3rd.  But, since they have 4 games left to Phoenix's 3, theoretically they are still in 4th.

No, jpotter is saying if the Suns win once more this season, we'll be solely in third with the Nets pick at season's end (since he expects the Nets to lose out.)

Update after the Suns' victory tonight: both teams with 21 wins, but the Suns have 58 losses and BKN 57.

Some reason for hope as the Suns have @NOP, SAC, and LAC.

All three of those are winnable games. LAC have their seed pretty much locked up and in their last game of the season may rest its best players. The other two games are against bad teams.

BKN on the other hand has @CHA, @IND, WAS and TOR. Charlotte and Indiana are fighting for seeds, and WAS for a playoff spot. TOR may very well have their seed locked up and could play a "rest game" in the final one of the season.

Nonetheless given the relative strengths of schedule, there's real reason for hope that PHO and BKN end up tied for 3rd, and it's not inconceivable that BKN holds 3rd outright at season's end.

Go Suns!

WOW - waking up to see the Suns winning last night is incredible!!!  ;D ;D ;D

HOWEVER, that being said, EVERY STINKING TIME this happens, the Nets end up improbably winning.  Nets - PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASEEEEEE lose out!

The Washington games scare me for the Nets since WAS is incredibly inconsistent and they are also just about out of the playoff hunt. We actually need to root for Pistons & Pacers losses as well as Nets losses to keep the Wizards mathematically in it so they play to win against the Nets. ALSO, the last game vs. Toronto for Brooklyn could be a win because Toronto will be resting players. As a result, we need the Suns to win at least 1 more, and given their win last night and that (rightfully) angering their fan base, they will probably go out of their way to lose the last 3....

Another thing that scares me (haha) is that if the Suns finish with more wins than the Nets, then the NBA may reward them for winning at the end of the year with a top 3 pick.... cuz we all know the NBA draft lottery is rigged...

I believe they split the lottery balls evenly and a coin flip determines who is slotted as 3rd vs 4th worst record.

The good thing about Washington is that they traded their pick (to the Suns, somewhat ironically).  So they're just playing for pride right now, and aren't as likely to rest people, even if eliminated.  I'm sure they'd like to at least avoid finishing with a losing record.

Ok. Brings back bad memories. Didn't we lose something like that , the last time?

No tiebreaker as to who won the season series?

We lost a coin flip to Utah in the Exum / Smart draft,

No H2H tiebreaker.
