He's polarizing for sure but if you think that there is no love for the guy on here, you're sorely mistaken.

There were (are) still plenty of people who like the guy.  The outliers tend to be the loudest ones, though and right now, those are his critics.

There's some love but not enough.  He busted his tail when the games mattered (face it, all players coast some when there's no chance at a championship, and along with that he was coming back from injury), played through injury (dislocated elbow, etc..), stood up for teammates in a physical sense (mixed it up with opponents), and won a  championship (would have won more if not for injury and Lakers series refs).

I'll always love Rondo for what he gave the Celtics.  He was a true Celtic in so many ways...including not being a robot (not being a plastic boring cliche machine) with the media.

Yeah, that's true. Has nothing to do with how we should feel about him in SacTown, though.

This may surprise some people but I wouldn't mind Rondo back under the right conditions.  My biggest issues with Rondo werehis unwillingness to change his style of play, the huge contract he wanted, and many fans' belief that Rondo could somehow be the main component of a future title team.  If he comes here with the right attitude, on a mid-level type contract, and with the role of defensive stopper/fast break initiator then I see no reason to not have him back.  Granted I don't think any of those three things happen, but I'd leave the door open.

If you think Rondo is polarizing now you should have been posting when he was actually on the team.

So we shouldn't talk about things that are polarizing? I guess I should have made a topic about how candy is sweet or how driving cars really fast is fun. If you don't think we should talk abut polarizing topics why do you post about religion in the offtopic board? (or current affairs or whatever it is)

Explain to me where I said we shouldn't talk about it?

My mistake.

Yeah, I agree Ainge made the right call. I had hopped that he could keep us elite without the big 3, but he could not. I'm really torn on what I want right now. On a human level I want to see him do well in Sac. But part of me wants it to blow up, and they trade us DMC mid season and then we sign Rondo on the cheap.

It is a 6th man, Smart could play the 2 and there might not be any better options  than Rondo to spend on next offseason. I don't think its so much that Rondo needs to change, just that he needs talent around him and a coach that trusts him. He has that winning mentality. Not to compare him talent wise to MJ, but MJ got in fights over card games becasue he didn't want to lose. It may make for a jerk as a person but its the same thing that made him a winner on the court. Rondo is the same way. If I'm the owner playing with one arm outweighs breaking a few TVs every now and then.

I wish him the best, I don't think he is a jerk or anything. I do feel like Carlisle has had a lot of issues with players over the year and it doesn't seem like Doc or Stevens hate him.

Rondo really changed the way I look at the game when I play. I'm not great, but I love to play and always find pick up games where ever I lived. I used to only really look for my own shoot and look to score. After watching Rondo all those years in Boston I really changed my game. Making a good pass to a wide open guy became more satisfying than making a shot. And not there are stats kept on pick up games, but I bet that I've won more games with this attitude than the score first attitude, and I can guarantee I've been a more fun teammate to play with. specifically Rondo made me see the importance of being able to pass behind the back with both hands. I had been kind of old school. I remember a teammate getting benched for making a behind the back pass in a game once (ok 15 years ago) but I always thought this was a show off move. RR showed that it is a needed move if you want people to play off you enough in the paint to get floater off. My all time favorite move, which I still can't do, is that fake behind the back pass that either leaves you wide open for a lay up or leaves your teammate open. And rondo stole that one from Bird btw.

I think we're all tired of talking about Rondo, one way or another.

He's on another team now.  We can enjoy watching YouTube highlights of his best days here, just like we can watch videos of Pierce, Garnett, Bird, and so on.

I'm a lot more interested in who the next standout player for the Celtics will be.

You know, in 2008....The Celtics, after waiting 22 LONG Years since their last Championship---Decided to fire their Mascot...and I remember (the day it happened)---you  don't Fire a Mascot named "Lucky".....Only TWELVE Days later, KG goes down with a knee injury in Utah---and it's been nothing but Bad Luck ever since....I'm not even superstitious...I just knew they were asking for trouble.....Rondo's Elbow and Knee...Perk's knee....Shaq's achilles... on and on.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

Ok, I guess it wasn't an article just a RealGM "insider." True or not it' pretty funny:

Ok, I have a friend who works for the Celtics. High enough that he knows the whole Lucky story. Here's the email I got from him today when I asked him about what happened (his name and address have been removed)...

Subject: Re: Lucky

Well, it’s a really long story. But I'll try and make it as brief as possible. Things have been getting worse over the past year for Damon (that’s Lucky). Even before the 07-08 season he started Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing about his salary. And he gets paid more than you think - the rumor around here is that it's in the 85-95k range. And it’s basically a part time job. Plus, he gets a bonus for appearances, so he's easily in six figures. They didn't end up giving a bump before last season, so he ended up blowing off a few appearances. The brass was a little p---ed, but nothing major. Anyway, after the C's won it last year, it definitely went to his head. This year, he demanded a makeshift "meditation room" be made available so he could get to meditate before every game. He’s huge into that. But people from outside would walk by the closed door and hear him pumping himself up by saying things like "This is your game Damon" and "No one is better than you Damon." It was hilarious. I personally walked by once and heard him blaring some kind of techno and just yelling out loud screams. Also, this year he started referring to himself in the third person. And better yet, as "Lucky", instead of Damon. He did end up getting a raise this year, but I don’t think it was much - so he was p---ed off again. But a few weeks ago, he started having creative differences with the game producer (his boss). Damon wanted to start introducing the players before the game - instead of having the announcer do it. He also wanted to start travelling with the team to away games. Plus, he HATED Coach Willie Maye and thought that he should be doing the in game interviews instead of Willie. Apparently the two of them had words on more than one occasion. But everyone here loves Willie, and that didn’t go over so well. So, the higher ups were starting to get fed up with his BS anyway. Anyway, the other day, there was some kind of fund raiser for Children's Hospital or something and he strictly refused to show up unless we sent a limo to pick him up at his house in Quincy. We obviously didn't send a limo, but told him to take a cab and we'd pay for it. He refused to do this and actually told his boss "Lucky doesn't take cabs" . An actual quote. Anyway, that was the last straw and we let him go yesterday.
