I really think Jeff Green is poised for a breakout year this season and should be considered a top 5 SF.

Then why don't you make a thread about it ;)

C'mon its he end of the summer and there is nothing going on Celtics to talk about. How is this worse than then lets run the o through Perry Jones thread?

This is the year when he finally becomes consistent and starts rebounding the ball!

I never understood how someone could stat pad with assists. Isn't the job of the point guard to make it as easy for his teammates to score? "stat padding" is just anti rondo nonsense that gets repeated over and over on these boards.

Really how can anyone stat pad in the NBA? I guess missing a shot to get a rebound or demanding to go back in a game that is already essentially over. I remember Rondo doing this one time back when he had that streak of 10+ assist games going. 1 times, years ago when we were good and Doc put him back in the game to do it and the whole team was cheering him on. But now people act like he was doing it all the time or that is was a bad thing.

Don't get me wrong, I think Rondo was very aware of his assist numbers and one of his main goals was to get as many assists as possible. But how on earth is this a bad thing? It's only a bad thing to people who already made up their mind they hate Rondo and go looking for reasons to justify their position.

Passing up shots is actually a good thing for a point guard. The PG should be trying to get his teammates going. Even passing on a 2 on 0 breakaway is a good thing if its the PG passing up the ball. maybe the other guy really needed that layup to build his confidence and start hitting shots.

You pad your assists by not allowing the ball to be moved around in the half court, once it's in your hands. If your an advocate of ball movement, this the kiss of death. Rather than allow someone else to assist in a basket, Rondo would rather pound the ball, watch players desperately attempting to get open, waisting energy, so he could be the deliverer of the assist, because he was incapable of scoring the ball. When he began shooting free throws at 30% he then stopped going to the basket. He then becomes a player that is easily defended against. (we won't talk about the comment about not playing defense)

Granted, a lack of targets was a factor on the 2014 Celtics. Not so in Dallas, that was a talent rich atmosphere. When the coach wanted a different approach from Rondo, he became defensive, arrogant and finally quit on his team mates. Not a pretty picture.

In Sacramento he gets another chance to re-establish himself. If he, George Karl, and Cousins can get on the same page, it may actually work. I'm not gonna bet my house on it.

Why don't you read what you type before you hit the "post" button. Do you really think that Rondo was physically unable to score? Or do you just hate Rondo because he didn't want to resign here?

When I said we have the worst fans, you are the kind of person I was referring to.

I didn't mean literally unable to score, if this offended you I certainly apologize.

To answer your questions, I, in no way wanted Rondo to resign in Boston, I'm a fan of ball movement, and sharing the ball. As Rondo began believing "it was his team" the concept stopped.

So if someone doesn't feel as you do about Rondo, they're on your list of "worst fans"? Calm down Dude.

Rondo was never a top 5 player in the first place.

Well Rondo has every reason to have a great year this year. He is now 2 years removed from the torn ACL (Ive heard a lot of people say it really takes 2 years o come all the way back, or as close to all the way and you can) and he has a 1 year deal with the Kings. He is 29 so he knows playing well this year is probably his last shot to get a big pay day (not that 9mil for one year isn't big.) People are really down on him now and I think Rondo is the kind of guy that holds grudges and uses them to motivate him.

I think you can say Dallas quit on Rondo just as much as you can say Rondo quit on Dallas. In that last game against the Rockets Rondo is clearly p---ed off. But I think he is p---ed off because the team is losing and he is getting beat by the much bigger James Harden. There is a difference to not playing D and getting beat by one of the best players in the world who is also much bigger than you. A lot of guys would play off Harden and just hope that he has an off day. Rondo was playing right up on him and very physical. Ideally you would have your 2 guard defend Harden and Rondo could have been on Terry. I think Rondo ws already upset at coach Rick for not letting him run the O and getting beat by Harden added to his frustrations. At this point Rondo must have already known there was no way in the world he wanted to resign in Dallas. But Rick benched Rondo and lost the series. Rondo didn't refuse to check into the game. I feel like that fact is lost when people are so quick to say Rondo was the one who quit. Really Dallas was pretty foolish to make the trade in the first place if they were not going to let Rondo run the O. In Boston Rondo hated having to have Doc call the plays early on and he slowly earned Doc's trust to the point where Doc let him run things for the most part. And they have plenty of tiffs (one story has it that players had to hold Doc back from attacking Rondo.) So if you know this about a guy, why trade for him in the first place?

I can give Rondo a pass on his play sense the ACL. He still looked great is flashes so I think the talent is still there. What we don't know is how good Sac will be. We know Rondo is not really a fan of playing meaningless games. He got spoiled early on when we got KG and Ray in in 2nd year. But he is going to need to suck it up for 1 year on the Kings if he wants to be able to land a long term deal on a good team where he can run the O. That's got to be his plan A, we will see if he can pull it off.

Easy, friend. The PJIII Thread is the best thread.

My love for Rondo extends to the games the Kings play against the Nets hoping that he can tack 2 L's on them and the games against the Mavs to keep their record in that 8-14 draft pick range. It will be interesting to see if Karl and he can get bring out the best in each other.

The negativity is ruining this board. I get PMs from people saying, yeah its bad how everyone hates on Rondo. But no one will dare post that here because you guys will just make fun of them and then tell them to calm down or ask to lock the thread.

As Pitino said, "the negativity in this town stinks and it sucks"

How hard would it be to just say, yeah I really liked watching him and I hope he can get back to where he once was?

If you think Rondo is polarizing now you should have been posting when he was actually on the team.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

I don't think people here actually hate Rondo...

I for one LOVE Rondo and wouldn't mind having him back, but to be honest...this team has taken another direction and was going full rebuild mode and going younger...the hopes is put onto Smart at the PG (For now)....time to move on

So we shouldn't talk about things that are polarizing? I guess I should have made a topic about how candy is sweet or how driving cars really fast is fun. If you don't think we should talk abut polarizing topics why do you post about religion in the offtopic board? (or current affairs or whatever it is)
