1 game is usually the precedent for such things. Leave that crap in college Smart. Not cool.

@ByJayKing: Smart on what he said to Bonner: "if I hit you in the nuts on purpose, er, your privates, you wouldn't be in my face. It wasn't intentional"

That's what I was thinking. If Marcus really tried to load up and punch him in the balls he would've been on the ground moaning in pain.

So, it's an accident up until someone falls to the ground crying? What was he going to say? "Yea, I did it on purpose."
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

michael jordan did stuff much worse than that every single game and didn't get called for a foul, never mind getting ejected.

and i don't even know that that play by smart was intentional, he was caught up by the screen and was slightly out of control as he rounded the corner, i've seen collisions like that happen a million times.

the thing that gives me pause, though, is that smart had been mauled a couple times just a minute or two before, this happened after the spurs had gotten away with maybe a dozen fouls in the span of a quarter and yet had zero team fouls. smart could well have been angry at the no-calls.

so the refs played a part in this, if it was intentional.

so smart needs to learn not only to control his emotions, but to remember that NBA refs are terrible, and that texas teams get ALL the calls at home.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I highly doubt he was going to say "yeah I intentionally did it" The league is going to look at this because he's been ejected twice in 2 weeks..not a good look for all these "unintentional" hits.

I think we've all been hit in the groin enough to know that if Smart was really rearing back and trying to hit him there like everyone is claiming, Bonner wouldn't have been standing. Bonner didn't show the slightest sign of pain or anything, which tells me that's not what Smart was trying to do. The kid is a bull in a china shop, and he was going around a screen after fighting through another one. He plays physical and rough; it's no coincidence that "rough" plays end up happening around him.

Look, it could have gone either way. I don't know if it was on purpose or not, but I don't see any reason why he would rear back like that and try to nail someone in the groin. And if that was truly what he was doing, are we saying that Bonner is just this beast of a human that he can take a straight up "bag-tag" and not feel it?! lol

It seems like his college days and some preconceived notions are at play here.

EDIT: I will say this, though. I'm much more suspicious of this play being intentional by Smart than the EP elbow ejection.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Yeah...it's tuff ....Cousins  throws himto the floor like a rag doll ......Marcus is learning how the pecking order goes in he NBA .   That's a wake up call right here ....welcome to the NBA rookie

I you let people push you around ....like Whiteside did KO ......and you don't retaliate. .....or become known as soft ......it's dog eat dog ......you'll avoid  contact ....aka Jeff Green

Young Pros in contact sports , even Nascar learn you can .'t be soft .

You have to let people know your not taking their cheap shots or be prepared for payback.

In the 80's he might have got called for a foul.....maybe .......that stuff happened constantly .

I remember the TV announcers back then laughing at plays like that ......no blood no foul.... ;D

Never liked Bonner anyway.

We get that other players commit fouls harder, as dirty, and unnecessary. What does that have to do with Smart doing it? If it hurts us, don't do it! Let the other players do it and hurt their team. Now, if you bulldoze your way through a pick, fine. I just don't want our kids to do these things, we already don't get any love from the refs. Don't make their (p--- poor) job any easier for them.

TP.........well said. ........I think contact was intentional......and I think he wanted to lay into Bonner good .....but I don't believe it was a planned fist to the junk .  If he had connected .....I know from experience on being on the recieving end in sports ..a guy the size of smart would have sent Bonner straight to the trauma.    center if it was a bullseye . ;D

Did Bonner leave the game , go to the locker room , go to the hospital ,  it was a low blow ......

Do not pitchers HIT batters on purpose ....

I think it was ruff play on Smarts part .....he got carried away

It was clearly intentional.  It looks like there was about 5 feet of space between the two Spurs player.  Smart takes 3 or 4 steps between the contact with the 1st player and the contact with Bonner.  I just don't see how the 1st contact could have unintentional caused the 2nd contact.

He obviously felt something, otherwise the play wouldn't have been questioned. He would not have been in Smart's face. You stop to think that the shot just didn't connect as much as it could have seeing as Bonner was in a defensive stance that deflects some of the blows screeners take towards that area? Watch his arms extend to deflect some of it. You seem to be thinking of a person taking a straight shot when they are defenseless.

I just watched it a couple of times.  It looked deliberate.  He deserves to be suspended two or three games.  There's no need for that.

we watched KG do stuff like this for what? 4 years?  Yet some of us are acting like this behavior is above the boston celtics.  I'm not condoning this by any stretch but whats the difference??  Smart puts up 20 and 10 and we wont care anymore?

both incidents where smart gets ejected this year, I can show you a video clip of KG doing the exact same thing, and some incidents where its even more egregious with KG picking on other players.

Ten bucks says half of the people trying to dismiss Smart's move as incidental were part of the same crowd calling for DeMarcus Cousins' head a few months ago.

P.S. Brad already called him out for his crap, so let's not buy into Smart's rejection of this being intentional.

Garnett just tapped Frye as Frye was jumping.  Smart swung pretty hard.
