amazing how with video evidence people can still disagree so passionately, no wonder some people that commit heinous crimes get acquitted even when there is overwhelming evidence of guilt.
Bottom line here is Marcus Smart is not Kevin Garnett (this is for all who have tried to compare him to KG). Marcus has not played a full NBA season and we are already talking about two ejections for flagrant fouls. For all that argue that the foul was not intentional, of course it was. You do not get to a flagrant foul without intent. Once you agree that it was an intentional foul, the question naturally becomes why direct the foul at the man's package? If it was inadvertent as claimed by Smart why square up with Bonner after the contact. Why not pat him on the back to say 'no ill feelings'? Oh, I bet that would dent the thuggish image he is trying to project.
To those who want to compare this guy to Posey or Rodman. Well I don't think either of those guys was picked with the #6 pick in the draft nor were they ever the face of any franchise. They were role player and part of that role was the 'enforcer' role. Is that what you want from Smart? Face of franchise or enforcer?
Yes you have a point that these two incidents are coming in just one season, Smarts first season no less. But the incidents that have been referenced regarding Kevin Garnett in this thread, also occurred less than a year apart. It's not like one happened when KG was a rookie and the other when he was a 12 year vet. We also saw more than once in one season, Kevin Garnett elbowing Andray Blatche when he knew the officials werent looking. This is when Garnetts in his mid 30s!!
Im sorry to keep harping on this. But these two incidents that he was given flagrants and ejected for, Kevin Garnett committed these same acts and had the same consequences.
And also, whats more excuseable, that Marcus is making these mistakes when hes a 20 year old rookie? Or that KG was doing these same things in his mid 30s??
Im sorry, I just dont see how you can seperate the two and look the other way and make excuses for one, and rule the other with an iron fist.
