Such a weird situation, like I really don't think Smart went there to deliberately throw a punch in the groin. In some angles it looks that way, in some moments I kinda see it being just a bad timing incident of him bringing his arm back from its previous position, at others it seems like he saw Bonner's shoulder coming towards his head and he reacted to it.

I really don't know what to make of it. I don't like dirty players, so hopefully this is really not a case of Smart going after someone with a punch, but more of a reflex thing.

Yeah, I'm the same way. I'm not sure what to make of it.

Either way, I think people here are overreacting to this a bit. I doubt he gets suspended more than a game.

@celtics: Smart on the incident with Bonner & Flagrant 2: "I was trying to get through the screen. We locked horns... It was a freak accident."
exactly. And the arm came up high because he got it tangled from the other guy. There was no wind up.

Smart plays hard and was coming in hot.

I really wouldn't expect him to admit to groan punching a guy, but he's probably going to at least get a game for it either way.

He did it to two different players on the same play. I don't see how it's purely coincidence. Luckily the first didn't seem to connect.

I don't see the first one at all. If you watch it from all angles, they were chest to chest as Smart was trying to get around the screen. He wasn't out there "bag-tagging" people.

one big trigger has to do with how fast the refs ejected him from the game.

I think the refs should of went to Marcus and asked him what happened , in addition to watching the replay. Bc if it was by accident, he should of not got ejected.

I guess they didn't want the situation to get out of hand and had to throw him out anyways

@ByJayKing: Smart on what he said to Bonner: "if I hit you in the nuts on purpose, er, your privates, you wouldn't be in my face. It wasn't intentional"

Smart might get 1 game so that the league can save the refs instant decision.

He might get away and not be suspended at all. But if it happens again, accident or not, he will be in trouble.  Careful Marcus, careful

Don't know if he was going for that low a hit but he was trying to connect. He doesn't like to be screened. When your coach throws you under the bus...

That's what I was thinking. If Marcus really tried to load up and punch him in the balls he would've been on the ground moaning in pain.

The real lesson Marcus will learn is from the media (specifically Boston), if they decide to overblow it..good luck kid

Yeah, but you never know with Stevens. He's so nice that he's not going to call out the refs.
