Remember how rondo said he would like to be involved in the FA process. Guess thats out the door. No way he would be happy to have thomas breathing down his neck.

Dont think he wanted the celts to draft smart either. He has not said anything publicly yet about the pickups. No congrats or anything.

He didn't publicly congrats Sully or Kelly either...I guess he didn't want them drafted either.

prob not or is indifferent. What a good leader he is

When players want to be involved in front office it usually just means they want the front office to sit down with them and hear their thoughts on the team. Let them talk about what is right, what is wrong and what needs to be done. Mention a few targets. Players do not get minute to minute updates on situations and asked for input on every possible trade and personnel change.

And KG and PP didn't publicly do it when they were on the team...so what's your point. But how about all the times the rookies have said Rondo gave them encouraging words (especially Pressey) or the numerous times he's worked out with them (Sully) or all those other things that don't fit in a 140 character tweet  ::)

Posted this elsewhere -- maybe it lives here. I think a deal that involves the following make some sense:

BOS gets: Monroe @10mil per year, McLemore, D. Williams, Thompson, (filler at half Wallace's $$$ for same # of years)
BOS trades: Rondo, G. Wallace, J. Green

SAC gets: J. Smith, Rondo, G. Wallace
SAC trades: I. Thomas, McLemore, D. Williams, Thompson

DET gets: J. Green, I. Thomas @ 8mil per year
DET trades: J. Smith, Greg Monroe

I would be okay with this. We probably need to get a SF in Free Agency though like a Parsons, and I think Sac needs to give us a pick and Detriot a pick. Good trade though.

I have had to use the term "smokescreen" about 100 times this week. I am starting to get p---ed. I remember when Boston may have had the chance to do Rondo and Wallace for Isiah Thomas, Mclemore, Thornton, etc, and their pick. Many people on here screamed, like they were being tortured in a Hostel, because they KNEW Rondo was worth much more than that! Well, now it looks like a great trade and too bad we passed.

Its 4 am and this seems like a bad dream. I'm upset about everything. I can't even put in to words.

Smart is a pg not a 2 guard .

We could only have 'passed' on it if it was an actual real proposed deal.

For all we know, that was vapor.

I don't think the fact that bloggers like or dislike a deal has anything to do with whether Danny passes on a deal.

Detroit is being bent over and f'd in that deal.  No way.

They can find a SF elsewhere.

As for Detroit getting screwed, you assume SVG sees Smith as an asset -- which he almost certainly doesn't. Smith is going to be one tough dude to trade.

I could see a 3-team trade being worked out between those 3 teams... but I doubt Ainge made Thomas his #1 Free Agent target just so he could re-route him to a 3rd team.    I imagine if we worked out a deal like this, we'd take back Thomas and Mclemore.

Or an experienced enough veteran of this business to know that they ain't your teammates until you get on the floor in camp with them.

Any one of Smart, Young or Rondo could be traded before then.

Pretty sure that most veterans don't go out of their way to offer premature welcomes to draftees until they are well out of the trade threat.

Monroe at 10m/year is wildly unrealistic.

Well, they would indeed be getting screwed if

a) Smith wasn't way overpriced for what they are getting from him and
b) Monroe wasn't a free agent who they could lose for nothing anyway unless they pay him a lot more $$.

Those two are probably more valuable as a combined package of talent than Green and Thomas (mainly because I'd view Monroe as >>>> Thomas in value.  And I like Thomas.), but when you consider the contract situation, that's not necessarily a bad deal for Detroit.

Poor excuse. Enough vets publicly welcomed their teams pick. Are they just dumb then?

Probably true.  I won't be surprised if he gets at least 13M.

Yeah.  Most veteran players are just dumb then.   You have it all figured out.
