Maybe it's a 3-team deal including Detroit, where we end up with Monroe, Thomas, Stauskas; Detroit gets Jeff Green, Mclemore; and Kings get Rondo and Smith.  Maybe some variation of that.
Mock Deadline Denver Nuggets
Nurcic/Henson
Patterson/Bennett/Arthur
Ross/Budinger
Miller/Hunter/Foye
Rubio/Ennis/Bayless

I doubt a double RFAS sign and trade comes together too hard.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I don't think this is true. Sounds like something the Kings would release to get Rondo thinking about agreeing to an extension with SAC.

Ainge and Stephens are hugely analytical guys and are obsessed with stats.
Thomas doesn't really stand out at one thing.
Yeah he's averaged 20 points and 6 assists but it took him 35 minutes a game and 15 shots.
Just nothing super special about him unless Danny is considering making him leader of the tank parade next season at the PG position. He's liable on defense and Danny may think he's a good target to boost up his value even more as a trade asset over a season or two.

Anyway I hope he doesn't touch him unless he's an Avery replacement at 5 or 6 million a year  if Avery really does command $7 million+
Isaiah Thomas's stats are awesome.  Only CP3, Westbrook and Curry had better PER's than him among NBA PG's.  20.5 PER, deadly efficient TS% at .574 on high volume scoring.

That's great, but PER won't make him taller and less of a liability on defense. He shot 45% from the field and 35% from three. He's not that special.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

A 'we're fine moving on' message to Rondo to get him to lower his price?  It's either that or 'we really are fine moving on' move.  Very interesting.
Right, because good management only cares about "moving on" post factum... Having options lined up in advance is really overrated.

I could see a backcourt of Smart and Stauskas with Thomas being a Jason Terry type of scoring guard off the bench.  We know Rondo was offered for Thomas and McLemore previously, but Rondo wouldn't agree to an extension.  Now there have been rumors of the Kings trading Thompson, Williams, and Terry for Josh Smith which would entice Rondo to re-sign.  This all makes sense.

Sacramento is a nice city. I hope Rondo enjoys it.

I love that guard rotation!

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
Apparently the Pistons offered Thomas, 3 years and $24 MM. If it goes much above this I wouldn't have interest.

I think he's a great bench scorer but not a full time player due to his lack of defense.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Yikes...no way I outbid that.

Guess this means Brandon Jennings is also a goner from Detroit.

LOL.  Just the name makes me shutter.
Worst defender I have ever seen in the NBA.

All in all, I think Thomas is the last thing we need in a rebuilding phase. I'd do a sign and trade for Monroe before I do one for Thomas. 20ppg and 6ast? Yea on a LOSING team.  Marcus Smart would bulldoze right through Thomas. why would we throw 8 mill at a position which isn't vital to our rebuilding?

Hearing Isaiah Thomas' decision will come after Kyle Lowry's. SAC and Thomas have strong mutual respect. Market value is key: $6 to $8 mil.

no thanks

!) keep Rondo
2) don't resign Bradley
3) get another high lottery pick next year (trade asset )
4) move green for expiring

If we can do all these things we will have 35 mil + in cap space next year to sign Rondo and Love/ Gasol and anothe decent player
