Pistons reportedly offered Thomas 3 years 24 mil... pass pass pass

No kidding. Stay away at that price tag. I don't want to start a 5-9 point guard. And i don't want to pay a backup 8 per year.  :'(

Still if the Celtics contacted Thomas, Rondo could be on the move, which also makes me sad.  :'(

I don't want to see Rondo traded.  If he is, though, it would be pretty cool to see him with a dominant big man.

A 'we're fine moving on' message to Rondo to get him to lower his price?  It's either that or 'we really are fine moving on' move.  Very interesting.
Right, because good management only cares about "moving on" post factum... Having options lined up in advance is really overrated.

There's another thread quoting someone on the Twitter or something about how Boston approached about 30 players last night, including Hayward and Parsons.  If that's true, you can read 0% into anything.  There's no way to know if Ainge is really interested or just looking for a back-up player.

I think Jennings could have a great second half to his career as a Leandro Barbosa type. I don't think he thinks that, though.

Hearing Isaiah Thomas is in play for $8 mil w/ the Pistons, who want him bad. Only team w/ highest offer. Heat, Mavs & Lakers on the prowl.

What if Ainge called several free agent point guards in an attempt to drive up their value and make it harder for Miami to find someone to improve their team?

I don't see how those two could be on the court together given their height.

Just to think outside the box, could Detroit be making a power play to sweeten their deal in a three way deal?  We know the Celtics are interested in Thomas and discussed a trade last season.  We know the Kings talked to the Pistons about Smith and the rumored trade wasn't giving Detroit much talent back and Detroit nixed it.  Detroit is now offering an above market deal to Thomas and potentially screwing up the Celtics and Kings plans.  Maybe Detroit is telling the Kings and Celtics they want in on the three way, but need more in return or they will blow up the Celtics/Kings part of it.

You wouldn't start Chris Paul?  :D

Big difference between undersized 6-0 in shoes (with all time skills), and way undersized 5-9 in shoes.

Thomas is 5 inches shorter than the average starting point guard. That would be like starting a 6-6 guy at center!   :P

So Rondo gets traded to Detroit for Monroe and then Detroit trades Rondo to Sacramento for Thomas and ........

No, I'm think Rondo and Smith to the Kings, Thomas and McLemore or Stauskas to the Celts, D Williams and Thompson to the Pistons.  These are essentially the deals that were previously discussed.  But Detroit wants more and they threaten to blow it up.  Maybe they want draft picks.  Maybe they talk the Celtics in on a Bradley sign and trade.

Detroit is stuck with Jennings and signing Thomas will just cause headaches.  Just wondering if Detroit has an ulterior motive.

Lol. And ring-less. The Rockets routinely were bounced in the first round (or missed the playoffs) in those days too.
