Iran was the better team today, but Messi pulled through for Argentina. Seems like a penalty was not given for Iran. Mehmet Scholl, former german international and Bayern Munich player, made fun of the referee, pointing out how he was too close to the players and blocking passing lanes all game long.

Battle of the (half-) brothers is about to begin. Expect a different game than the Germany - Portugal match. While Portugal is strong on the counter, Ghana will probably look to take the game to the germans.

Go Germany!

In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

so Iran got robbed off a penalty kick with a non call in the 54th minute. The referee compounded his error by not awarding a corner kick on the challenge. The call was doubly ridiculous because the referee supposedly ruled that the Argentinian played the ball yet did not award Iran the corner kick. Weird!!

On the refs defense i also though initialy that it was a clean tackle and the ball bounced of the Iranian. Officiating has been pretty bad so far helping the big dogs.

As a soon to be german citizen i`d like to see a German win but but i also like upsets so `m a bit torn:D

Pretty sloppy performance by the germans, they seem to lack precision today. The offensive midfield isn't pressing into the box enough, imo, they`re not going for the "rebounds" hard enough. Muller is relatively alone up front. The whole build up is rather slow, too.

My hope is they're just trying to manage the game and save energy for the second half. Hopefully Ghana will break down around the 70th minute.

That goal came out of nowhere. Brilliant pass by Muller.

Germany was lucky to score.  The pass was great but getze's header was awful.
