The World Cup Gods are condemning Wayne Rooney.

Unbelievable.

I hope Uruguay hang onto this.

England press would drive themselves insane if team lost first two games.

Edit: Well so much for that.

Wayne Rooney has finally broke the curse.

Great pass by Glen Johnson.

One for the history books
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Good save by Muslera.

But man, England is pushing real hard now. All the momentum is with them, Uruguay for some reason just forgot to play defense.

And typical England.

All the momentum and they just gave it away. Suarez looks like he's just scoring in the EPL.

LOL.

No one got back. Ridiculous.

That is a cruel blow for England. They really deserved that equalizer. It had been a fairly even game. England maybe even having the slightly better of it especially after goal. Then in one moment ... from a goal kick of all things. Ugh.

What a way to concede a goal and lose a game. Probably get knocked out WC too.

Uruguay's population : ~3 million people

3 best players on the pitch: all uruguyan.

How many tourneys like these have to go by until England realizes they have to invest a lot of money into their youth system and completely overhaul it?

Well, Daniel Sturridge, and Raheem Sterling are doing pretty okay in this tournament, and they are 24 and 19 respectively. Danny Welbeck (23) is getting some solid World Cup experience.

They got some young guys (Ross Barkley, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Luke Shaw) that are poised to be good, they should play against Costa Rica just to get that "World Cup" rub. As far as youth, England's got some solid youth. Wayne Rooney (assuming he continues to play at a high level) probably has one more World Cup along with these young guys who will grow in the best league on the planet.

The question is their defence. Will it ever get better? Their two losses came from the defence falling asleep.

No offense, but do you work for the Daily Mail? That's exactly the kind of euphemisms you can read there. "Best league on the planet"? None of them come close to Goetze, Pogba, Neymar or Verratti.

Just because some of those guys can run pretty fast doesn't mean they're even close to international class. You can look at any of the teams at the WC and find some nice, young players.

Don't fall for that nonsense, man.

Hey now, we've been throwing World Cup matches since at least 1950. Don't act like this is some new trend.
