I want to go on record here as saying that McDermott might be the right pick even as high as six. And should definitely be in the mix in the 5-10 range. After Embiid, Wiggins, Parker Exum and Smart, I am fine with Danny taking McDermott. This kid can flat out score, he's 6' 8" with four years of college. And as others have said, even as an elite shooter only,  will have a place in the league. I prefer him to either Aaron Gordon (offensively very limited) or Julius Randle ( dont see him as dominant at the NBA level given his skill set) or Vonleh (who really needs more time in school). I think he is legitimately in the mix before the tenth pick.

Mcdermott scored 45 points tonight vs Providence

Went 17-25 and 5-7 shooting threes.

He can't defend in the NBA (I mean he doesn't defend in college!), that seriously limits his value even with his elite shooting.

His defense is not as bad as you make it out to be. He tries hard at least. Like i said before , even if he gets burnt a little, his man will also tire out chasing him around on the other end.

I say draft him. Stevens will maximize his skill set on both ends of the floor.

We need shooters and he's a stone cold shooter.

He will probably be there around the Nets pick which will be right outside the lottery. I'm guessing probably around 15-17. Not a bad get for someone who could be like JJ Reddick.

From the little I've watched him, he reminds me a lot of Wally. Is that a fair comparison, or just superficial?

A little off topic guys :)!
Do we own a second round pick in the upcoming draft? I know that we traded our own pick to Dallas in the Olynyk trade, but I cant really remember if Brooklyn gave us their 2nd round pick?
Can somebody help :P

A good place to look is here:

The direct answer, though:  no, we don't have a second rounder.

Szczerbiak?

I'd take a Wally Zczerbiak in a mid rounds any day. If he's going to end up like him, that's great value for the BKY/ATL pick.

Nah, he's FAR more skilled offensively than Wally The Vowel. Has great court vision and is an effective passer and rebounder.

He has the physical tools to be an average defender. He's never going to be a lockdown guy.

He's excellent value at the 17, IMHO.

Sadly, trying hard won't overcome the physical inability of a player to keep up with a player. On the other hand, guys like that can still fit into a team defense if the other 4 defenders are good enough.

Mcdermott has a high iq. I havent seen him yet get mandled on one end and not put up points on the other

He is a scoring machine with a deadly quick deep range at 6'8 height that can score in bunches. With the ability now to dribble to find space before shooting he is more than a open man jump shooter like steve novak

Let me guess our roster has a knock down shooter already named Avery Bradley, or Jarreyd Bayless, or Sullinger.
