I'm becoming a huge fan of Aaron Gordon

One huge thing he has going for him is his age...doesn't turn 19 until September 16!   


Plenty of time to develop...both skills-wise and physically.

Johnson 15 points in the last 3 minutes probably had nothing with them winning either.   Granted Gordon kept them in the game when Johnson was playing abysmal.     His uncle Dennis could be cold and get hold in the big moments of a game too.

I will be honest I would not mind having both of them.  I just hope if we get Gordon they don't call him, Flash.

I'm strictly interested in talent and ability.  Gordon appears to possess no more talent than enough to be a very solid role player.  I don't like the idea of spending a high pick on a player with that as his upside.

I went into the season thinking that this kid was just a dunker and nothing really else.  I don't know the kid and I can only go by what I see but this kid has an incredible motor, he is all over the floor.  To me, and this is just a hunch he will put the time in to become a very good NBA player.  If the C's pick in the 5-7 range, I would be pumped if they got him, him with Rondo would be pretty exciting and a nice building blocks going forward.

"talent" and"ability" are vague words, that can mean different things to different people.  But to single out Gordon as lacking both, relative to 10 other guys in this draft, is very puzzling to me.  To me, this kid screams "talent" and "ability." Last night was the first time I really watched him in an entire game.  I observed a very good ball handler for a guy of his size, a very high energy player, super quick, who constantly had a nose for the ball.  I would take him over Randle, Vonleigh, Smart in a heart beat.  He is not without risk--his free throw shooting needs great improvement--but sign me up as a huge fan of AG.  Kudos to OP for starting this thread.

Why don't you think he has upside? He has elite athleticism and is one of the youngest players in the ncaa so he certainly will have time to grow. I think he can come in and immediately give a team great defense and rebounding as well as the ability to get out in transition and finish. I think he will be able to improve his jump shot (due to his young age and his reported work ethic). He already has decent handle for a player who is very young and has played mostly pf. I expect him to eventually add a very good jump shot and the ability to get to the hoop to his stellar defense and rebounding, with the total being an eventual all star.

With Rondo's impending free agency, I can't see how this is the kind of player they want to add to a team that wants to be relevant enough to entice Rondo to resign. He has some skills and is athletic but he is still incredibly raw and to be honest, probably could use at least another year in college. If Danny drafts this kid, he's shown his hand already because Rondo will be traded soon after that and we'll go with a complete youth movement. Rondo's not stupid and there's no way he stays on a team that drafts developmental players.
