You got to be kidding me. Seriously.
Jeff Green for freaking Omer Asik????
[Edited.]
I mean come on, Asik is so bad on the offensive end.
I seriously cant believe Danny is this stupid, im just sorry to say. Jeff Green is way better than Asik, and Asik definitely isnt worth none of our picks.

Agreed. I don't even understand why we would need the Cavs just to send Green. If the Rockets want to trade Asik so bad and are desperate for a two way pf, take Bass and a first seriously... Ainge has the leverage Green should be off the table

More posturing?

Can't help but think of the Doc Rivers to LAC saga with all this media leakage.

Green for Asik makes little sense for the Celtics. It's like a step forward a step back.   I don't think this gets done.  I imagine Ainge's idea of what Asik is worth is not close to what the Rockets want. Ainge never concedes value to get the player.

I think Green heading out in an Asik del is very likely. I believe Danny gave Green that 4 year $36 million contract figuring that when Pierce was gone Green would develop into the superstar that they saw last spring.

Alas, this year has proven that a completely healthy Green is not that superstar but what he has always been which is a decent third cog who can shine at times disappear completely at times and will be what he always has been which is a 17 PP36 player that can't rebound or pass well and who isn't aggressive enough for most team's tastes.

So why not move on rather than have to pay him for this year and two more. Asik's contract expires next year. If he is the defensive anchor they think he can be then they can resign him and if not, they can renounce his rights and save the $9 million they would have had on the books for Green in 2015-16.

My dream scenario would be Philly wanting Asik and in a three team deal the Celtics nab Nerlens Noel while Green goes to Houston. Yeah baby....Nerlens in Boston!!!!!

What superstar last spring? Green was scoring 17 PPG in 33 minutes the last two months with a TS% of .580. He's basically at that same level this season. Scoring 17.6 points/36 at .560 TS%.

Isn't the $9 MM a year he's making what a 16-17 point a game scorer is worth? If the C's thought he could be a superstar wouldn't they have offered even more?

I think Rondo is going to improve Green's numbers by getting him the ball in good spots. To me Green is a very good finisher, both at the rim and from outside, but he isn't a shot creator, with Rondo back he will have more shots created for him. I wouldn't give up on him just yet.

Meh, I don't see Green as a superstar obviously, but rather I think he is paid very fair value for what he does bring. If Ainge thought he'd be a superstar, he would of paid him significantly more. I also see no need to get out from under his contract as you suggest unless Ainge has an immidiet plan for Greens salary slot.

If Asik doesn't pan out like you said and Boston lets him walk, then you just lost Green for scraps. You could say try and trade Asik at that point, but if he doesn't work out for us I'm pretty sure the league will notice and his value will be poor. Especially considering he will be due a big pay day.

Agree though, if PHI wanted to send Noel to his hometown Boston, then I would entirely change my stance lol but I see that as unlikely at best.

In the end, I'm happy I have full faith in Ainge. I will be unhappy if Green is gone but I'll trust Ainge has made the right decision.

Latest rumor:  Houston shopping asik!  Cavs, celtics, sixers, bobcats, Atlanta may or may not be interested.

Knicks is also in the mix as they badly need a healthy bigman:

Quote
The Knicks made a foray into the Omer Asik sweepstakes and had discussions with the Rockets and a third team about a three-way swap, an NBA source told The Post. But the source said the Knicks are likely to fall short of obtaining the Houston 7-footer who has asked to be traded.

Asik, who makes $5.5 million this season, is an obvious fit as the Knicks are thin and injury-wracked up front with Kenyon Martin and Amar’e Stoudemire both risks, but have a glut of shooting guards. The Knicks are willing to deal Iman Shumpert — whose stock has fallen a bit in recent weeks — and Metta World Peace. J.R. Smith is the lone prominent Knick who can’t be traded until Jan. 15 under a quirk in the collective bargaining agreement.

The Rockets want to move Asik by Thursday

So the Knicks are this "mystery team?" Yeah they'd literally have nothing to offer, that franchise is such a mess

One possible scenario that has emerged, sources say, is a three-way trade in which Boston lands Asik, Cleveland absorbs the contract of Celtics forward Jeff Green and Houston scores no fewer than one of the future first-round picks it covets for surrendering Asik. Other players would have to be involved in such a trade to make the salary-cap math work, but it's the sort of trade that would fall in line with Cleveland's well-known focus on upgrading its options at small forward. ESPN.com -

I'm not sure if I want to give up Green for Asik. Jeff has really good, especially for what we are paying him.

2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

There's a lot of talk about this guy for Jeff Green or Brendon Bass.
Can someone please convince me as to how this guy fits.
I am just going on record as "I don't see this guy as anything more then a second string center"!!!

I dont get the Jeff Green hate around Boston. He has played well for us especially this year. I also dont want to give up Jeff in an Asik deal because he has been proven to guard (or at least somewhat contain)  the James, Durants, and Georges of the world with more success than most others can. And thats huge in todays NBA.
