For a couple of months until Ainge finds another SF option in a trade I think they would be just fine.
Wallace/Bass as your SFs full time?

We'd probably sink to last in the league on offense.

Probably not the worst thing for the Celts' long-term rebuilding.

I do think Jeff is right on that Stein appears to be pushing Houston's narrative of the talks. Amazing how much posturing happens in the media.

So Asik at SG and AB at point? Bass/Wallace at SF, Sully at PF, and Vitor at C.

Book it Danny!

Yeah Stein is a huge Mavs fan and has connections there and in Houston in the past.

Boston send Green and Clippers 2015 1st rounder
Boston receives Asik

Cleveland sends Varejao
Cleveland receives Green

Houston sends Asik
Houston receives Varejao and Clippers 2015 1st rounder
Pick has to come from the Cavs, otherwise it's a daylight robbery for them.

To be fair, I don't think these guys really purposely print stories as a favor to GMs they like.  They print stories for the GMs who feed them information to get clicks on their website.

Yeah this situation is weird, a mini-trade deadline created by a single team's desire to have flexibility.

To this end, I like what Ken Berger has to say here:

Atlanta's interest has been lukewarm, at best, sources tell CBSSports.com. Hawks GM Danny Ferry has taken a guarded approach to the so-called Asik "sweepstakes," and for good reason. He is said to be among the executives wary of Houston's attempt to overvalue Asik and create what another executive called a "false market."

Such is the Rockets' job, however, as they try to extract the best assets possible for a player whose future clearly is not in Houston.

To be a fly on the wall in a 3rd GM's office as he's forced to listen to all the BS flying from Ainge and Morey. Would be amusing for me -- prob not so much for Danny Ferry.

I'd imagine more Lee at SF. Maybe even Marshon at SF (Brad seems fond of that...at least in garbage time).

Hope not though.

Absolutely agree.

SOME here are even reluctant to give up a SINGLE first. Only wanting to give up Bass and Lee.

As much as I don't think fans have much insight as GMs, I think Jeff Green + a first for Asik is definitely overkill.

Hell, Morey was called delusional for his asking price.

Yes but... I've been to the MIT Sports conference. To watch the ESPN crew circle around Morey like giddy school kids is not to be believed.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Boston send Green and Clippers 2015 1st rounder
Boston receives Asik

Cleveland sends Varejao
Cleveland receives Green

Houston sends Asik
Houston receives Varejao and Clippers 2015 1st rounder

This seems like the most likely scenario as Cleveland gets Green for their SF position and opens up playing time at the PF position for Bennett and Thompson exclusively. Houston gets their first rounder and a complimentary defensive piece to put next to Howard that can hit the 15 footer for the foul line extended. Boston gets their future defensive anchor of a center to put next to emerging offensive and rebounding star Jared Sullinger

And in the meantime, Bass switches to small forward as he played a lot at that position in the last two year's playoffs guarding Melo and Lebron for stretches. When Asik goes to the bench Sully switches to center, Bass to PF and Wallace gets time at SF. When Sully and Bass sit Asik comes back in with either Humph or Olynyk playing next to him before returning to the starting lineup late in halves.

pick(if any) doesn't come from us. I'd ask for a pick from Cleveland.

Straight swap works but Danny probably milks this till the end. He's asking for Asik and Waiters e Green+ picks going out-knowing that he's getting Asik and a pick or no deal.
Morrey would be desperate for Green. Danny doesnt pose these if the trade goes through.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Does Cleveland own their draft choice this year? Perhaps we can send the Clippers pick to Houston, and the Cavs yield their first-rounder to us?

They have theirs. And I agree on this, it would make me feel a lot better about sending Green. Green and a first for Asik and nothing seems way too steep...

You got to be kidding me. Seriously.
Jeff Green for freaking Omer Asik????
[Edited.]
I mean come on, Asik is so bad on the offensive end.
I seriously cant believe Danny is this stupid, im just sorry to say. Jeff Green is way better than Asik, and Asik definitely isnt worth none of our picks.
