I agree that the addition of Asik improves the Celtics.

Is Asik the be all end all defensive center? If he is you need the rest of the roster to provide "offensive force."

Perkins + Rondo required three of the best shooters in the history of the league. They did, look at the numbers, look at the team. Ainge put that roster together. A passer, a defender and three scorers. Rondo + Asik...where are the three scorers? I mean proven NBA playoff scorers?

I am aware that Asik is simply a rebuilding step with more moves to come, but, Green's play, his potential and perhaps, most importantly, his salary make him a logical fit in a $20M+ blockbuster trade scenario. He is an easy sell to any GM in a multi player deal...the ultimate "throw in" player. Ex...Brooks is not a good trade chip in a big deal...his salary is too small. Green's salary is a trade asset, I vote against spending it on Asik.

I suggest that Ainge will not "go for it" now. Yes to Asik is the price is low. Ainge is trolling for a steal...not a deal.

Long shot.

Makes no sense for blazers to trade lopez and mess up a good thing they got there. They  can give up someone else but imo dont excess talent to spare. Unless hou wants robinson again or wes matthews

I can't believe that 73% voted that a good trade for Asik was Bass, Lee and a first round pick.  have you all gone bananas???
Brad Stevens has brought this team together with his philosophy of family, camaraderie and trust. I just hope that Stevens has some say in any trade talks and I also hope that DA is smart enough to stay away from this overhyped trade.
IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!!!

They're 12-14 we shouldn't think this roster is immutable.

exactly why upgrade that position when you have a solid 7 footer who can bang downlow and lopez can hit the mid range

i can see the lakers getting in this with gasol though

Take Amico for what he's worth but something could be happening soon

#Cavs, #Rockets and #Celtics indeed in talks for 3-way trade centered on Houston C Omer Asik, league sources tell @FOXSportsOH.

Sam Amico ‏@SamAmicoFSO 9m
#Cavs GM Chris Grant has green light to make a deal, league sources say, as owner Dan Gilbert not happy, expects more this season. #nba

Stevens has done a great job but 12-14 in an awful EC is not exactly great....If it was Bass, Lee and a pick, I would sign off on that...

Why would Houston want Gasol? Why would Cleveland/Philly/etc?

I bet Cleveland would LOVE Gasol.  While they have Bynum, he is a questionmark at best, and even though Gasol has had a down year, he is still one of the better centers in the league.  If you put Gasol on Cleveland, they become a much more dangerous team in the East.

I also think Gasol is a guy who just needs a change of scenery.

expiring contract
What salary are they dumping then?

Expiring big money contracts only have value if you're dumping longer term money or using it for salary match purposes.

People seem to think expiring contracts are assets along the lines of picks sometimes.

Considering how the schedule was to start the season I'd say thats pretty darn good.  Above what everyone, and I mean everyone thought going in.  It's pretty darn respectable considering the changes and the initial schedule.

Right, they have played well but being 12-14 is not a good enough reason for not to upgrade the roster.  If they lose Bass, Lee and add Asik, that's an upgrade.

Steve Bulpett says Celtics trade font is quiet is weird a lot of writers say we are serious about Asik but the beat writers say we are quiet.
