I would not acquire Omer Asik if it means trading Jeff Green. I just don't think Boston can replace the combination of his versatility, athleticism, and scoring touch. Also Green is still pretty young. At his salary, he is a steal. I would trade Gerald Wallace and maybe either Olynyk and/or Faverani and a pick, but I'm not sure Houston would go for either package. Asik is a good NBA big man, but not worth trading our best all around scorer and athlete whose game is still growing.

Steve Bulpett says Celtics trade font is quiet is weird a lot of writers say we are serious about Asik but the beat writers say we are quiet.

This would be consistent with other teams talking about the deal and our front office keeping their mouths shut.

Given how quietly the Perk deal, Stevens signing, etc. went, I'm guessing Danny et al aren't a very leaky group.

Boston guys say its quiet, other guys on the other end of the sources say we're involved heavily.

Also Bulpett said "it could all change with a call". I think the C's put that out there to signal they're not backing off whatever offer they last put out there.

Three team deals are always super leaky.

Makes no sense for blazers to trade lopez and mess up a good thing they got there. They  can give up someone else but imo dont excess talent to spare. Unless hou wants robinson again or wes matthews
exactly why upgrade that position when you have a solid 7 footer who can bang downlow and lopez can hit the mid range

i can see the lakers getting in this with gasol though
Why would Houston want Gasol? Why would Cleveland/Philly/etc?
expiring contract
What salary are they dumping then?

Expiring big money contracts only have value if you're dumping longer term money or using it for salary match purposes.

People seem to think expiring contracts are assets along the lines of picks sometimes.
gasols contract expires and they get the power forward they need

can sign him for less next season. gasol is still a good player
hes averaging almost 15-10

Nope, the Ray Allen trades that were in the works always were leaking on the other end too iirc.

We didn't hear the details of the Mayo almost trade till much later, that stuff is real time out there for the Knicks or other teams.

I don't see it, what pieces are they giving to Houston or the Lakers? D'Antoni has no interest in a player like Asik anyways.

A whole lot of nothing.

You normally have to give up something to get something.  Everyone would like to dump Wallace, but it's just not that easy.

You look at it from a team perspective.  Nobody wants to lose Green, but you're getting a Center back in the equation.  A legit Center who defends and rebounds.  One that is almost a perfect compliment to the 4 man starting on your roster.  Does the way Asik compliment the roster make up for what you lose in Green ?

Right but he is the Lakers coach and unless you're firing the coach it doesn't make much sense to acquire Asik.

And if the Lakers are sending Gasol and not getting Asik, what exactly are they getting?

Next 2 days should be interesting on the Omer Asik front, but I'm told Atlanta is "barely involved." Could always change of course.

This may also be posturing, but it's not surprising. I wouldn't trade Paul Millsap for Asik either.

I think Morey is hitting the point where everyone is just saying no until the "deadline" comes.

i don't think so don't like the deal to be honest. SFs like Green dont just fall out of trees who can hit the three, score inside and best of all defend. He's playoff tested and is just a teir under All Star status he has All Star moments for sure.
