The Heat had the cap space and Lebron/Bosh took less money. There were no jurisdiction or logistics issues.

what a coincidence the heat save all that cap space in advance?, wow!, it so usual for teams with stars to not to improve for years, when your star player is coming off contract at the same time

As I recall, there were multiple teams that were trying to manipulate their payroll and have contracts end at just the right time to have a lot of cap space to go after multiple top free agents.

only one who who had a young star coming off contract was dumping payroll, whilst toronto and cleveland were putting on payroll for some reason miami was dumping, rather strange doesn't it seem. The other teams that were dumping (knicks and bulls) had no star on their payroll coming off contract (rose was locked in his rookie deal), how luckly for the heat that they had such an understanding superstar who didn't request the team to trade for anyone for years wink wink.

btw if stern standard of evidence is media reports, there were plenty of media reports of collusion between heat management and bosh, wade and lebron, before the signings and after

If I remember rightly, most people were thinking he was headed to New York if he wasn't going to stay in Cleveland. Part of what made The Decision such a shock was the fact that he was headed to play with Bosh and Wade.

There was absolutely player collusion at play, and I'm sure Wade told the Heat management that he could get in LeBron's ear if they had the cap space, but I don't see a league-wide conspiracy afoot.

I think as long as the media are not hearing and reporting all this, NBA let deals happen.
Trades should be negotiated with a clause against that.
Look what is happening now :
- DA had to reveal the franchise plan about Doc.
- Doc's image is not good at this moment.
- FA players will think twice before going to Boston (it was already difficult to bring FA here, now it will be very tough).
To me, there is no doubt a GM have to come up with plan, trades and blow up strategy like that and take the blame. The thing is it can't be public like that. Most of the people that simply enjoy basketball won't understand and will feel disappointed with the entire franchise when this happen.
Celtic's honor is damaged today. I feel very sad.

What if we do it the other way around?

Let Doc go for a first, Doc signs as coach and GM, and then trade Garnett?

I mean, technically, Doc is now the GM of the Clippers, and we´re dealing with him, not Sacks. How more unrelated could it be? The league can hardly tell Doc he´s not allowed to sign any of his former players ever again.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

probally time for the Celtics owners to step in , find out what is happening, clarify everything to the public and decide if Danny should even remain employed , much less , should we be dealing with a team that under the table deals are all over the place and may come back to bit the Celtics.

There needs to be disclosure before things ever happen between these two teams.

I'm sure ownership knows what is going on.  And they don't have to tell us a thing.  Being too transparent about this deal is one of the reasons the league is up in arms over the trade.

Yeah, saying Wyc and co. don't know what's going on is like saying Donald Sterling doesn't either. At this point, all of us pretty much know the situation. Those guys would probably like to get this done as quickly as possible, but the situation is what it is...hopefully we can get a resolution in the near future.

Oh yeah, shame on Wyc, he's undoubtedly been sunning on the Riviera this whole time, bilssfully unaware of what Danny's been up to.

Enough is enough with the back and forth. Its either Doc is leaving, Staying or going to the broadcast booth. As fans we are all sick and tired of this Drama. God I feel like a Laker fan and that makes me want to puke.

There's no need for a separate thread for this.  Why can't you express this opinion in one of the multitude of other threads on the LAC deal?

Bad idea for everyone.  Let the Clippers be the same inept organization they have always been. Just Stop..pay Paul and find some additional help!  When healthy we are not that far out of it!

Yea there's already way too many Clips/Celtics threads.

Someone clarify something for me:

The Clippers are reported to be upping their offer for Doc. One source says that the Clippers weren't offering anything for Doc, while another says that the firsts were for Doc.

Are we getting DAJ + firsts + more for Doc? Or were the firsts temporarily not part of the deal?

This whole thing's a mess.

I'm pretty sure we would get a first for Doc now, then in a few weeks try to negotiate a trade for KG involving Jordan and maybe another first. They want to do the deals separately (timewise) so it doesn't seem that they are related.
