I think DeAndre Jordan could be traded to Portland for their 2013 first rounder (#10) or a top ten protected 2014 pick.

Portland badly wants a center who can anchor their defense and round out their starting lineup. They have a lot of cap space this summer so they can absorb the contract. After Dwight Howard, their only real alternative in the free agent market is Nikola Pekovic. Plus, their GM is the guy who gave DeAndre Jordan his contract back when he was with the Clippers so he probably still rates the lad.

I think that would be a good move for both teams. Allow Boston to enter a larger rebuilding process, lose more games, improve their own draft pick next summer(s) and add a late lotto pick to their roster.

TP for the same thought.

Had this same idea yesterday. Portland could certainly be interested and should have the salary to absorb the contract.

If we could attach Bass/Terry to the LA deal and then flip Jordan for #10, we would clear over $20mill from the books almost instantly. Pretty complicated in the real-life NBA but certainly not impossible.

If you are Rajon Rondo, what do you think of all this?  If he has to come back mid season to that juggernaut, maybe he doesn't feel as bad if he gets shipped out as well.

i thought a core of Rondo-Bradley-Green-Sully-<center> was good enough to win a championship? trollolol

but srsly, if we end up getting DJ+picks for KG, i'd be very sad.

The Pierce-Butler thing, i can understand for 2 reasons: 1) Pierce gets to play with Doc+KG and compete for a ring and he deserves to get what he wants. Mgmt should put him in a place where he'll be happy 2) Butler is an expiring contract.

Still, i would've want to be able to come out with a better haul after practically gutting our whole core and identity.  :'( i mean, if this trade happens, with KG and Doc and Pierce gone, Rondo better grow up real quick and become an actual leader to the team.

Not that it really matters but I'd love to see the overlap between the people bemoaning this deal now and the people making "blow it up" threads for the last 4 years.  Be careful what you wish for.
I thought our chance to blow it up would have been during the trade deadline last season (2011-12 season).   That's the last chance we had to actually get serious assets for our old players.  There were discussions about landing a lotto pick for Pierce... and OJ Mayo for Ray.  That was your real shot.  This year it was too late.  And now at this point... we're talking about really weak assets.  DeAndre Jordan's albatross contract and filler for Pierce and KG?  Meh... we're missing the playoffs regardless.  We might as well just hang onto KG and Pierce to at least the culture can carry over to the next generation.

Precisely. There is a mile and a half-wide tornado coming, and it's going to strip this franchise down to the foundation.

I don't know if I'm Rondo, who knows? Maybe he wanted to salivate over the chance to take over this team.

Bad enough to make at least the 8th seed in the east.

few things:

they need to dump bass and lee and/or jason terry. ASAP

i have a feeling danny has already decided on Del Negro...which would be tragic because he couldn't win in LA with the clippers good players let alone the guys they are sending to boston

if i am rondo, i am out of boston ASAP. who would want to play with this team and for that coach?

and that is the problem...don't want to be the 8 seed...would rather be a lottery pick than a first round exit

I actually like the core of RR, Green, and Sully with AB coming off the bench or occasional starter due to matchups.  But either way we need a scoring machine at the 2, and a stud rim protector to go along with that.

I guess I can see DJ as a stop gap for the rim protector until we can get someone better.  But we are going to struggle putting points on the board next year no matter what.

No worries there.  A Rondo-Bradley-Green-Sully-Jordan starting lineup easily nets us one of the three worst records in the league.

RT @MarkHeisler: Second source confirms #Celtics, #Clippers' progress… Eric Bledsoe not in it. Neither is Paul Pierce. LAC would wait for C's to buy him out

  • Let's Go Celtics!
I hope Danny really looks at other coaching options, Brian Shaw for one could be good. Just no Del Negro.

And one would think Josh Smith would be a serious target.
