What about this scenario from the Clips perspective:
Trade Griffin, Bledsoe, Butler, Jordan -- Salary Out = about 38M
For Pierce,KG and Bass -- Salary In = about 34M

Amnesty Pierce (if this is possible -- not sure of the amnesty rules) or release him owing the 5M guaranteed.

This reduces their cap to about 30M.  If the cap next season is 60M that leaves 30M to sign CP3 and Dwight Howard (this assumes that you can't go over the cap to sign CP3 with Bird rights and that you can only get 10M of PP's 15M off the the books).

Howard
KG
Bass
Crawford
CP3
Hill
Barnes
Billups
MLE

Now there's 20 minutes I'll never have back.

Teams cannot amnesty players they acquire in a trade.

This trade is ridiculous, however I wouldn't be surprised if a Bledsoe + Jordan for KG swap was revisited in the offseason.

Yeah. Could conceivably expand to include Pierce for Butler and ballast (Grant Hill and Willie Green).

Trouble is, Clips would have a ton of payroll tied up in 5 guys (KG, Pierce, Griffin, Crawford, and a resigned CP3). Even if they could bring Billups back on a team-friendly contract, they'd only have the MLE at best to round out the remaining 7 roster slots. Would be daunting.

If you're going to trade KG to the Clips for Bledsoe and Jordan you need to do better than Butler for PP. I might look at using him in a S&T for Jefferson or Smith or the like.

I don't know if KG plays next season without Pierce. Hence, the package deal.

I've heard plenty of quotes from KG about Doc being the only coach he'll play for and just as many about the Celts being the only team he'll play for but I don't think I've seen any quotes that he'll only play on a team if PP was on it.

“One of the big reasons I came [to the Celtics] was because of Paul,” Garnett told the media. “Obviously, you want to be in a situation where it’s better. I want to make sure that I’m able to always help a team. I want to be in positions to where I’m giving something. I demand a lot of myself, both physically and from a skill level. But I’d be lying to y’all if I said Paul didn’t play into that factor. Like I said, it’s too soon of a conversation for me right now.”

Even from a Celtics standpoint of this ridiculous garbage I'm not convinced.

What if we did Bledsoe, Butler, Griffin, and Jordan for Pierce, Garnett, and Bradley? :P

This trade is ridiculous, however I wouldn't be surprised if a Bledsoe + Jordan for KG swap was revisited in the offseason.

What would that really do for us though?

We would have to resign Bledsoe after next year for 8-10 mil

Jordan is on the books for 2 more years around 10 mil per

That means we would have no cap space for the at least 3 years or so .

We would also be too good to be in the lottery , but not good enough to contend ...
What it would do for us is accumulate assets, much the same we did before we traded for Ray and KG.

If Bledsoe is worth $8-10 MM a year you can believe that he has value around the league.  With this deal we would have young athletic players at every position except for the 4. If we added Josh Smith as part of moving Pierce we would have probably the most athletic team in the league.

More importantly we would be a team loaded with assets, that would be extremely entertaining while we waited for the assets to mature.
Rondo/Bledsoe
Bradley/Terry
Green
Smith/Bass
Jordan/Sully

How many games does that team win? Assuming growth from most players and health I see 45-50 wins. If you aren't sure that this team could make noise in the east just think about how flawed all the other playoff teams in the east save Miami are.

good luck closing out games with free throw shooter like Smith , Jordan and Rondo ....

They would also have very poor spacing , as Smith and Jordan can't shoot .
Sully would probably play instead of Jordan down the stretch.

In general it would not be a great shooting team, that is why the MLE would need to go to Korver. Jet, Korver, Bass and Sullinger, could provide some floor spacing.

Any shooting flaws would be made up for by being creating the most break out opportunities in the league. Josh Smith and Jordan are both elite shot blockers. Bradley and Rondo are both elite at stealing the ball. Including the defense of Jeff Green this team would turn the other team over and finish on the break.

Would you rather have Jeffeson instead of Josh Smith in this scenario? We could move Bledsoe as part of a sign and trade for Big Al.

Teams can trade the moment they're eliminated, right?  Can anybody think of a pre-draft night trade though?  Isn't it weird that it literally never happens?

The prohibition on trades lasts until the day following the team's final game of the season.

You occasionally see trades a week before draft night.  Rashard Lewis and a pick for Okafor and Ariza.  Dalembert for Nocioni and Hawes.  Such trades seem to happen about once every two years.

A few years ago, the Raptors traded Jason Kapono for Reggie Evans while the NBA Finals were going on.

TWO QUESTIONS- tp for the first person who can answer each...

1. Has anything like this trade ever happened in the history of the NBA?

2. Has Stephen A. Smith ever said anything useful?
#2 answer...I didn't double check, but I believe Stephan A. interviewed Mark Cuban a few years ago.  It was the best interview  I have ever seen, and I have loved Cuban ever since.  You might find it on YouTube.   If you give credit for stupidity, Stephan A. Smith deserves some for that interview.

Since Doc negativity often doesn't get reponded to, I'll just say I disagree.  Despite some flaws, I think Doc is a very good coach to have on a this team.  He is a positive variable when it comes to deciding where to play.  When competing for FAs with cities in nicer climates, we need a guy who guys want to play for.

Was this the interview where Steven a smith and skip were telling Cuban how the mavs got lucky and James had an off finals performance. Then Cuban counter and went through every defensive scheme that they ran to prevent his offense and why and how they did it completely choke slamming both SAS and bay less...

Because if so that was awesome. An if not totally check it out.

Rondo + Jordan would be so fun to watch.

I was wrong about the tape...It was Skip Bayless, Smith and Cuban...and Bayless got most of the flack.
