Only logic I see for clippers is they make one run next year then with cap space next off season make a push for a major free agent that wants to play with cp3

SAS is definitely living in la la land with this one. Imagine thats a no brainer for us.

Sillyness aside it could be interesting for both teams. Maybe Paul doesnt get along with Griffins immaturity and is ready to get two established veterans surrounding him in their last years. Paul has a huge say in the Clippers roster management so he could be suggesting moves.

If Chris Paul was that hateful of Blake Griffin and that desperate to play with KG and Pierce... trading Chris Paul for Rondo makes FAR more sense for both teams.  No way do you give up a 24 year old big man all-star (Still on his rookie deal) and two more capable players for two guys this close to retirement.

Agreed. And to be honest, on the Celtics end, I think believe or not I'd actually rather deal Rondo for a sign and trade of CP3. I know I am going to contradict myself as I am ready to move on from Pierce and KG, BUT I do think CP3 could possibly squeeze one more run out of them, with a couple more pick-ups.

Also, as exciting as Blake is to watch, I don't think he's the caliber of player that CP3 is.

Griffin is no longer on his rookie contract. His max deal begins next season.


Devil's Advocate:

The Clippers don't think Paul will re-sign with the Clippers because of Griffin.

The Clippers don't feel that even if Paul re-signs they can win in the playoffs with a team that over the last 2 years has failed to make it past the 2nd rd and is 2-8 in it's last 10 playoff games.

The Clippers don't feel that Griffin and his 18 ppg and 8 rpg is worth max money despite the HL dunks.

Perhaps they think that this gives them a title contending 2 year window.

The Clippers feel that they won't be able to re-sign Bledsoe anyways.

I am not sure if that is correct but it doesn't matter because in trade scenarios like that they usually do some separate trades that equal one trade.

For instance we signed and traded Sasha Pavlovic last year in the whole Courtney Lee trade but I am not sure if it was technically all one trade. perhaps it was a conglomeration of trades that equal the final resulting three way trade.

How soon would the Celtics be able to trade Griffin after this?  If it's not before next season i wouldn't do it.  He's soooo overrated.  But then, it might be worth it just to get rid of Doc.

Bledsoe is under contract next season (for $2.6 million). He's not eligible for a S&T.

This trade is ridiculous, however I wouldn't be surprised if a Bledsoe + Jordan for KG swap was revisited in the offseason.

As sme1 else said sas was on the miami big 3 before any1 else, doubt we would get all the clipper guys but we might get some combo, it makes sense for doc/paul/kg to join cp3 and either griffen/jordan in clipper land, I think it might be kg and paul for blake and Butler

We would have to resign Bledsoe after next year for 8-10 mil

Jordan is on the books for 2 more years around 10 mil per

That means we would have no cap space for the at least 3 years or so .

We would also be too good to be in the lottery , but not good enough to contend ...
