This trade is ridiculous, however I wouldn't be surprised if a Bledsoe + Jordan for KG swap was revisited in the offseason.

Yeah. Could conceivably expand to include Pierce for Butler and ballast (Grant Hill and Willie Green).

Trouble is, Clips would have a ton of payroll tied up in 5 guys (KG, Pierce, Griffin, Crawford, and a resigned CP3). Even if they could bring Billups back on a team-friendly contract, they'd only have the MLE at best to round out the remaining 7 roster slots. Would be daunting.

If you're going to trade KG to the Clips for Bledsoe and Jordan you need to do better than Butler for PP. I might look at using him in a S&T for Jefferson or Smith or the like.

I don't know if KG plays next season without Pierce. Hence, the package deal.

This trade is ridiculous, however I wouldn't be surprised if a Bledsoe + Jordan for KG swap was revisited in the offseason.

What would that really do for us though?

We would have to resign Bledsoe after next year for 8-10 mil

Jordan is on the books for 2 more years around 10 mil per

That means we would have no cap space for the at least 3 years or so .

We would also be too good to be in the lottery , but not good enough to contend ...
What it would do for us is accumulate assets, much the same we did before we traded for Ray and KG.

If Bledsoe is worth $8-10 MM a year you can believe that he has value around the league.  With this deal we would have young athletic players at every position except for the 4. If we added Josh Smith as part of moving Pierce we would have probably the most athletic team in the league.

More importantly we would be a team loaded with assets, that would be extremely entertaining while we waited for the assets to mature.
Rondo/Bledsoe
Bradley/Terry
Green
Smith/Bass
Jordan/Sully

How many games does that team win? Assuming growth from most players and health I see 45-50 wins. If you aren't sure that this team could make noise in the east just think about how flawed all the other playoff teams in the east save Miami are.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Ok how about Pierce goes to LAC with KG as part of a three way that nets us J-Smoove or Big Al? (Expiring contract to Atl or Utah along with a first from LAC and potentially a first for us).

good luck closing out games with free throw shooter like Smith , Jordan and Rondo ....

They would also have very poor spacing , as Smith and Jordan can't shoot .

I've heard plenty of quotes from KG about Doc being the only coach he'll play for and just as many about the Celts being the only team he'll play for but I don't think I've seen any quotes that he'll only play on a team if PP was on it.

FWIW

Here is an article about how Griffin and Jordan were bickering with each other late this season.

It also mentions how both Jordan and Griffin can't stand cp3 anymore.....
Quote
The feel-good Clippers are gone, with DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin’s immaturity dragging the team down.

Jordan wants nothing to do with Coach Vinny Del Negro because he blames Del Negro for burying him on the bench.

He (Jordan) wants the ball like any great player, but when it doesn’t go to him, he pouts. He’s 24. Most of the time the ball goes to Griffin, but he’s concerned only about the times when it doesn’t.

The other night in Sacramento, Griffin and Jordan exchanged words on the bench. Griffin told Jordan he best never again stare him down as he did when Griffin failed to give Jordan a good pass for a dunk.

Everyone else was left to sit there while waiting for the kids to stop bickering.
Quote
The pair have also grown tired of Chris Paul’s voice, which is understandable at times.

Paul, very much like Kobe Bryant — who has turned off Dwight Howard with his out-of-this-world standards — is relentless. He never shuts up. And Jordan and Griffin have become weary of him.

When asked about being annoying, Paul smiled and said, “I need to work on being a better leader.”

maybe we can take advantage of griffin and cp3 not getting along?

It seems like a good trade for both sides, but the two teams are still far apart in the negotiation.  The Clippers are demanding 2 of our banners and one of Bill Russell's rings in addition to Doc.  The Celtics are holing out for a first round pick and Robyn Cohen's security deposit.

Blake Griffin may be slightly overrated but 24 year old atheltic PF's like Griffin dont grow on trees. It would be an obvious choice for the celtics if that deal was even remotely true.

I hear they'll throw in CP3 and a 2nd round pick for Red's ghost as well

What about this scenario from the Clips perspective:
Trade Griffin, Bledsoe, Butler, Jordan -- Salary Out = about 38M
For Pierce,KG and Bass -- Salary In = about 34M

Amnesty Pierce (if this is possible -- not sure of the amnesty rules) or release him owing the 5M guaranteed.

This reduces their cap to about 30M.  If the cap next season is 60M that leaves 30M to sign CP3 and Dwight Howard (this assumes that you can't go over the cap to sign CP3 with Bird rights and that you can only get 10M of PP's 15M off the the books).

Howard
KG
Bass
Crawford
CP3
Hill
Barnes
Billups
MLE

Now there's 20 minutes I'll never have back.

Blake Griffin is one player in the nba who really doesn't understand his place in the world. He frequently acts like a garden variety thug on the court, acting like he's ready to fight every time he gets fouled. For the older crowd, he plays kind of like Dominique but acts like Anthony Mason. It's not a good mix for a league poster boy.
