Simmons puts Parker as the best international player the NBA has ever seen.

I'm not sure I can disagree.

I can't see him as better than Dirk overall. There were other players that were better than him although with brief careers (Yao, Sabonis, Petrovic).

There's a 7 foot German in Dallas who would disagree.

Dirk is more important for the evolution of the game, for sure--the three-making PF.

That said, Parker has had a much more successful career.

People probably thought the same thing about Anfernee Hardaway (4x All-Star, 3x All-NBA), Gilbert Arenas (3x All-Star, 3x All-NBA), Brandon Roy (3x All-Star, 2x All-NBA), and countless others.

Can't take the future for granted, or think a short career is that special in the broad scheme of things.

He's on a solid path though.

Um no.

Dirk in a land slide...really it's not even kinda close

Tony Parker has been second and third fiddle in his titles and won a finals MVP going up against the worst ever finals team.

Dirk won finals MVP as a top dog with an average roster around him against a good team, brought another average team to a finals appearance and has won league MVP

No.  Definitely not.  Maybe some day if he improves and has a lengthy and successful career without KG and Pierce.

I think in 3-4 years, he'll definitely be a lock.

The Rondo from 2006-2009 is alot different from the Rondo of 2010-2013.

I still don't get why people doubt Rondo. He can take over games even if his shooting ability is rather weak for a point guard.
The Rondo of 2014 will be recovering from a major injury and possibly not even playing a single game... when he does return, he'll return to a team likely devoid of Pierce and KG... and very likely lotto bound with or without his help.

That would ironically give a big boost to his HOF chances. Big boost to his regular season numbers and he's already enjoyed as much postseason success as his contemporaries may in their careers.
Yes... Rondo leading a team indefinitely in the lottery will probably average some hefty John Wall-esque numbers.

I mean he hasnt even entered his prime yet... Lets see what accomplishments he can add to his already mipressive resume in the next three, four and five years
He'll be 28 next season... coming off a major injury.  I just read he's 6-9 months away from even being able to run.  He might not even play next season.  Perhaps he returns for 2014-15 season at the age of 29.  His prime is over.

He's right where he should be in terms of a rehab schedule.

The worst finals team ever... I didn't realize he was in the league to play the 2002 Nets or the 2001 Sixers.

Dirk saved his reputation with the 2011 title run, which is looking more and more like a fluke. His finals performance in 2006 was embarassingly bad. Dude's a phenomenal player, but he (and the Mavericks) are a perfect example of how little the regular season matters.

Playing with Tim Duncan your entire career will do that for you.

Shhh. I'm trying to obscure the fact that I totally forgot about Dirk.

Sure... 6-12 months ... which means there's a real chance (like Rose) he doesn't play at all next year.

Slippery slope for a Celtic fan to say that... since Rondo's career has been pretty dependent on Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.    IF you look at his HOF Probability on basketball-reference... he's got a 21% chance of making the HOF at this point.  Part of the reason it's even as high at it is... is because Rondo won a championship.  Sure, that championship happened when he was a role player, but the algorithm just sees "multiple allstar + 1 championship = 21% chance"

That's absurd, in my opinion.
