LA did great.  I mean they gave up Bynum who didn't even play at all last year (and who has barely played this year) for a shot at convincing Dwight they were the place to be.  I'd do that trade every single time even at the expense of a 2017 protected pick.  They also picked up Earl Clark and Chris Duhon for Josh McRoberts, Christian Eyenga, and a 2015 2nd rounder.  I'd say the Lakers made out quite well.

I remember people were ready to trade Rondo for CP3 and were hoping they'd "convince" CP3 to stay.

People were similarly hoping to "convince" Dwight to say. What they wanted was something along the lines flipping KG and/or Pierce for Dwight then flipping Rondo for CP3 then hoping to convince all of them to stay.
