It's sounding worse and worse now:

HOU offered ORL $12M in space (instead of Afflalo), recent 1st picks, future lottery and unprotected picks. Would've taken bad deals (cont.)

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA

(cont.) and no need to take on Harrington contract.

Sounds like Houston was offering a greater collection (in sheer numbers) of picks and prospects, plus more financial relief.

Magic must really have wanted Afflalo?

I'm convinced that Mitch Kupchack has blackmail material on every GM in the league.  Between the Gasol trade and now this, it seems like he convinced other teams to take clearly inferior deals.

Danny needs to start practicing some of that voodoo.
I wonder how much of this is agent driven at this point.

Somebody has got to be pulling the strings somewhere.

The Magic had one starter-level player on their roster outside of Howard, in J.J. Redick.  Afflalo plays his position.  The trade just makes no sense for Orlando at all.
so much for all this Hennigan is wise, willing to wait, what a freaking idiot

A lot of amusing tweets out there.  Hollinger has a couple of good ones:

Quote
As many noted, Denver got a better haul from Melo trade than Orlando did from Howard trade.

But, can also argue Denver got a better haul from Howard trade than Orlando did from Howard trade.

Seems that Denver GM is doing a heck of a job.  More evidence:

Two worst contracts on Nuggets (Harrington, Afflalo) now belong to Magic.

So, yes, Bryant searched out Howard's cell phone on Friday morning and made the call to Howard that the two superstars had resisted for months now. When the time comes rest assured Bryant will make something clear: The carnival act ends now. The clowning and goofing are done. During games, players used to hear Kevin Garnett screaming at Howard: "Paint your face, clown!" up and down the floor.

"That will be an interesting dynamic," one ex-teammate of Howard told Yahoo! Sports on Friday. "Not even just with Kobe. I don't think [Steve] Nash and Pau [Gasol] will enjoy that at this point in their career."

KG is awesome.

How stacked is the Atlantic Division for star talent btw:
KG
Pierce
Rondo
Deron
Joe Johnson
Amare
Carmelo
Bynum

and those are just the marquee guys.  Lots of talent in general in the Atlantic:
Jason Terry
Jeff Green
Crash
B. Lopez
T. Chandler
Bargnani
E. Turner
etc.

He let the Lakers get Howard for Bynum and a couple of picks - Lakers made this guy their pool boy.

Everyone one but the Magic makes out in this one.

I don't love Celtics because of they are champion. Celtics was lost in the final against Lakers in 1986 when I decided to be a fan of celtics. I didn't even know how many championships Celtics had when I was started to become a celtics fan. In those times there was no internet. I was 11. After Lakers victory all of my friends in Turkey were suddenly become Lakers fans. But I loved Celtics I don't know why. I haven't been regret from that year to now. They won countless championships but I loved celtics even more with learning more about celtics in history. And I didn't care anything else.

For me, the rivalry between Celtics and Lakers always like the battle of the right and wrong, beautiful and ugly, respect and spoilt, dignity and smarty. In other words, good and bad.

Stern have always been a puppet of Lakers. Stern thinks of nothing but market NBA. And he is very good at it, I got nothing to say for that but he doesn't believe in system. He doesn't believe in this game itself and it's beauty, but I do. And this game market itself by its own, it doesn't need anyone to market it. But Stern doesn't understand this and his dirty hands are always on this game. Just like Lakers.

Red Claws is Celtics D-League team. And Orlando is Lakers D-League team? As if Lakers selected Shaq and Howard and send them to Orlando to play until they improve enough and then get them back. What kind of bullEdited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. is this? I don't even need to go  back further in the history. Lakers always disrupt the system. They are always shameless and greedy.

It's like they are playing a video game. They are paying 80-90 million $ salary but they can send any player they want and they can get whoever they want. They get Sessions in the middle of the season and they realize it's not working well enough for them, they get Nash. And I'm pretty sure if Nash wouldn't work out they would trade him for Lowry in the middle of the season. What kind of idiot gets Walton's contract can you explain it to me? Could we send Jo away? Could Cats send Biop away? Washington was going to give their lottery pick away in order to get rid of Blatche yet they couldn't find any buyer. But Lakers can get Sessions in exchange for Walton so easily. Dallas and Haywood, Houston and Scola. And numberless examples...

We were the least luckiest team in the NBA last year. We experienced many injuries but we could only get Hollins while Lakers was trading their useless players to get Sessions and Hill easily. Where is justice in any of these?

Do you think could Celtics get Pau Gasol in exchange for a draft pick..?

I don't know how can we compete with this kind of order. Referees are always on their side as well as the media. Stern is their puppet. This isn't going to end. I haven't seen any other organization as greedy as they are. Like they are the only ones who lives on this planet. This is making me sick and seriously p---es me off.

What can happen if they are not champion? What matters is here that what they do is not ethic. They disrupt the system, make this game dirty.

I'm sure NBA will find millions of new fans. Stern is pretty good at this business.(Although I'm sure this years final series ratings were dissappointed him.)

I do neither have time or money to spend for this bullEdited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.. I'm angry at myself for spending money to watch summer league. You only live once and life is too short.

It may be easy for you to follow up Celtics but believe me It's not that easy for me. Being awake until morning(as you know the time difference). From now on, I think I will just go online to see Celtics game results and read some comments on forum. I don't think I will ever spend either my money or my time for NBA.

My advise for you to prepare yourselves for a new period of 20 years and also prepare yourselves for at least 10 Lakers Championships in those 20 years.

Wow, in only 18 months. That is a lot of upheaval.

Big turnaround for Denver's roster.

Iggy left DEN.
Dwight left LA.
Bynum left PHI.

ORL walked away with:

Nikola Vucevic
Moe Harkless
Arron Afflalo
3 1sts (1 from each team)(1 being Nuggets 14 this season)
2 2nds

Wonder who won that deal now.

Kinda funny when you think about it.  Everyone as mocking Orlando for being such losers in that trade.  Look now!

Denver did fine.  They wanted out of the Afflalo contract and had a very nice season last year.  They also have two 2014 picks and are giving up the crappier of the two, so it wasn't a bad trade for them.

LA did great.  I mean they gave up Bynum who didn't even play at all last year (and who has barely played this year) for a shot at convincing Dwight they were the place to be.  I'd do that trade every single time even at the expense of a 2017 protected pick.  They also picked up Earl Clark and Chris Duhon for Josh McRoberts, Christian Eyenga, and a 2015 2nd rounder.  I'd say the Lakers made out quite well.

Philly went into full bore rebuilding and is set up nicely this year to do that, but they have to be regretting giving up Vucevic.

Sure Orlando is looking pretty solid now, but the only team that probably regrets the trade is Philly.
