it was the nuggets that made out like bandits, dumping harrington and getting iggy, magic should of gotten faried or koufos instead

Lakers will improve defensively, but howard has back issues and they will be in tax hell next year

I'm cautiously optimistic, only because of how much I value Bynum and how I always thought that the gap between the two wasn't as wide as people have said. Should be a fun season - Thunder and Heat and Celtics are still going to be a hell of a challenge though...

Fixed it for you.
man i wish I had the optimism of my fellow Celtic fans.  The Lakers are ridiculous on paper... just unreal.  Nash, Kobe, Pau, Dwight.  That's sickly good.  They could win 67+.  I have Celtics pegged for 45-50.

I remember this fun year when the celtics had Rondo, Ray, Pierce, Kg, Shaq... sickly good team on paper... then we remembered Shaq was 39 and injury prone and everything went to hell.

Nash is 38 with a bad back. Dwights coming off back surgery... they are a great team on paper, but theres a lot of factors involved still including health and egos. I'm not the type to wish harm on other teams' players... but I find it inevitable to believe that team wont have some sort of issue with this lineup, injury or other that affects the production of the team

lakers were very good last year and they'll improve, but most of the improvement will come from nash upgrade not from this. This makes them slightly better. Artest is still awful

Man this is trash. Orlando is trash. La gets 17. Kobe gets 6. Laker fans will be intolerable. I'm disgusted that la didn't give up more. Pathetic.

I imagine a lot of my fellow Celtics fans will be in denial about this... seeing as we have Courtney Lee and Jason Terry and all... but honestly this is nothing short of a total disaster for Celtic fans.  Steve Nash is the greatest shooter in the NBA and arguably still the best playmaker in the game... he's now the 4th best player on the Lakers.  That's sickening.

I agree, and we have our own issues to worry about in the east.

Maybe so, but all they need is all four guys to be healthy in the playoffs.  Their offense and defense can survive stretches without any one of them during the season, possiby any two.

And comparing the Celtics getting Shaq to the Lakers getting Nash is a bit off.  Shaq had already had a poor year in Cleveland and was getting offered minimum contracts.  Nobody in the NBA saw that as a game changer.  Nash just had a great year and was getting offered 8-10 million a year by multiple teams.  Shaq WAS a superstar and hadn't been a factor for a while.  Nash IS a superstar and led the league in assists this past season.  BIG difference.

Orlando got a bunch of nothing. What a bad deal. Screw the lakers. Nash couldn't guard me...gasol is a walking vagina....Howard is coming off back.surgery....kobe is a ball hog...and mike brown is still their coach...their bench sucks

Final Nets offer Orlando rejected in July: Lopez, Humphries (1 year, $9.6M), Brooks, 4 unprotected No. 1's for Howard, JRich, Duhon, Clark.

Instead, Magic are getting 3 or 4 protected 1sts, Harkless, Vucevic, Al Harrington, and Afflalo for that same package.

A much better offer than what they accepted here

Yeah, they got cute and then decided to cut bait instead of actually waiting it out and driving a hard bargain.

I wonder if the GM just is in love with Vuvevic/Harkless?
