Ya right, pal. Me and KC are on the clock and we'll use however amount of time we'd like.

Kyrie Irving. I pick Kyrie Irving. And I suck.
I don't love this pick, not with Wade already on board.

Wade plays the Lebron role, and Irving plays the Wade role.  It will work out.

More like Wade plays the LeBron role and Irving plays the (Cavs PG) role.

Only Irving won't choke in the playoffs when faced up against top defensive players / teams.

I think Irving is much better than (Cavs former PG).  I think he and Wade would share primary ball-handling duties and would be perhaps the most dynamic backcourt in the NBA.

In terms of style of play, I think they are similar. In terms of how that partnership will work. How they will function alongside one another.

The explosive shot-making of Irving / Cavs PG vs the slashing (dodgy spot up shooting) of Wade / LeBron.

Wade/LeBron also has a multi-dimensional game (high level defender, possession creator and playmaker in addition to their prolific scoring) .... whereas Irving, in these early stages of his young career, is more of a pure scorer who struggles in the non-scoring departments (defense, knowing how to run an offense, playmaking).

I disagree that 'struggling' is the correct word.

I think struggling is an accurate description.
  • Defensive liability who was regularly targeted by opposing teams for his weak defense
  • Regularly misses his teammates on passing opportunities. I would consider him below average for a starting PG at creating scoring opportunities for his teammates.
  • Does not direct an offense well ... to the point that his own coach says that Kyrie forgets the plays they are running and doesn't execute them properly.
Now, let's not get ahead of ourselves, the lad is only a 19/20 year old rookie PG. He has got a lot of time to improve his game and to become a more complete pro. He just isn't there yet.

He is a terrific prospect and already a very accomplished scorer but the rest of his game does need work.

------------------------------------------------

Worth mentioning -- Irving should improve some heading into his second season vs his rookie year.

The Irving-Wade tandem reminds me of a real-life NBA backcourt pairing that most people here view as completely untenable.

However, both Irving and Wade are better than their undrafted counterparts.

How the mighty have fallen.

Carmelo's star has lost a lot of luster, but he's better than a lot of the guys taken thus far.

I think his stock has plummeted on this site in terms of being able to be seen as a championship teammate, but this was a huge value pick right here.  If you build well around him, this could be a huge steal
