Just doing some rough calculations, for Green to get 4/40, his 1st year would be 9m with 7.5% annual raises. This would work out to 40.05m.
At the end of the day, while I still think 9m is a massive over-pay for Green, isn't that basically what we were offering him last year. The whole 4 years part is a little mind-boggling though. I'd have to imagine there would be huge protections for the Celtics, in the form of non-guaranteed money.
This might actually be fairly close to what the deal ends up being. Even giving Ray 6m, with all the other confirmed or reported deals out there, we would be right at about 65m.
Pierce-16.8m
Rondo-11m
Garnett-10.6m
Green-9m
Bass-6.2m
Allen-6m
Bradley-1.6m
Sullinger-1.3m
Melo-1.2m
Johnson-1.1m
Joseph-.5m
TOTAL=65.3m
Terry (MLE 5m)
Player X (BAE 1.9m)
TOTAL=72.2m 13 players
We could then add two players for vet minimum deals , which would only count for .8m each (two-year minimum amount), and still be under 74m.
As much as it pains me, Green may very well get his 4yr/40m. Ugh!
