i don't think those numbers are correct...but i was encouraged that green wanted to be in boston and they are working on the deal

No these numbers are not correct.  Jeff Green did get a $9M 1-year deal last year so that is his potential as an NBA player but there is no way he is getting a raise after not having played a full season due to major surgery.

I think he ends up a $8M per max.  That is the max I would go at least.  I think very highly of Jeff Green too, and I was stoked that we got him for Perkins.  But once he is getting $10M per to be Pierce's backup for 2 years, you are flushing cash down the toilet.

This is all speculation anyways.  So it is not true.

I wish Perk and Nate was back. Instead of this greedy ass fool.

the only good thing about green getting this kind of money is; when combined with bass' contract, we'd have enough salary to trade for dirk at the deadline once Cuban realizes it's time to blow it up down there in dallas.

Because he'll want two roleplayers combining for max money for 3+ years instead of Dirk?

Another deal for comparison: Odom signed for 4/$33 with the last year partially guaranteed after averaging a near double double in a championship run.

What makes you think he is being greedy?  If other teams are offering him multiple years at $9M per, which is what he was signed to before his surgery, why is he being greedy holding out for more if Boston will offer it because they want him?

Isn't it Boston, by definition, who would be greedy in that situation?

We have no idea what is going on right now.  I personally don't believe for one second Green is signing for more that he did last year.  He doesn't deserve it.  I don't think Billy King would give him $10M per. The fact that he had major cardiovascular surgery simply prevents that kind of a deal.  It has to.

And yes I have said on this board that I think JG will be 100% and better than ever.  But I am not writing checks.  If I was, I would look Falk in the face and tell him he is getting no more than $8M per.  That is it.  If he can get more than that elsewhere than good luck.

Everyone in the world, including Jeff's agent, would be shocked if Jeff Green got more than half of that reported amount, assuming we are talking about fully guaranteed money (to borrow an NFL term).

I wanted to see Jeff Green back with us, but at that kind of money?

The thing is, we haven't made any moves with FA's to help solve our REBOUNDING issues. The tandem of KG/Bass underneath is not going to solve that, as we saw last year. Bass (like KG) likes to take a lot of jumpers. We need to get someone who is capable of going out there and grabbing 8-10 boards on a consistent basis for us; not KG playing out of position at center and battling two or three guys.

IF KG was a center, we'd have just walked away with banner 18 at the conclusion of the season.

Melo/Sullinger better really be on that fast course that Danny spoke of, because we'll need them both at center.

Woah! 40/4 is too high. He has yet to prove that he can be a playoff caliber quality starter. I could be talked into 32/4... and really think 22/3 is more like his worth.

Have you seen Perk's deal?  ???

I'll believe the numbers when they are final.  My guess is something more like 3 years at 8-9.

Any one else think this rumor started out of Miami?

One more way for the Heat to convince the Celtics are not treating Ray correct.

??? His deal is cheaper than what is reported to be Green's and he is a better fit for the team. Remember, our starting 5 with healthy Perk was undefeated in the playoffs.

I laugh at that number. That is Wall Street greed if report is true.

Anything over $8m per for a healthy Green is an overpay.  $10m x 4 for a Green coming off open heart surgery is insane.  Is there really this kind of market for Jeff Green?  It seems to be a 20-25% overpay.

Thinking aboutt Bass and Green standing around together (at $17m per year combined) while the other team gets easy rebound putbacks is going to suck.
