I am a little suprised the response is complete rejection, thought it would be a little more split - especially considering Deron Williams, Steve Nash and Goran Dragic are free agents.

This is one of those trades that falls under the "big picture" concept. In a bubble, you probably say no to Rondo for Gordon and the #10... but if it's part of a grand scheme to lure a guy like Deron Williams, you probably aren't taking a step back.
That said, it would make more sense if Gordon was still on his rookie contract. Because he's a restricted free agent, it means he's in line for a pretty big deal. In other words... if we were talking about trading Rondo to Golden State for Steph Curry (only paid 4 mil next year) and the #7 pick... it's something I'd strongly have to consider depending on what "the other shoe" is.
