Gordon hasn't proven that he can even be a star caliber player in this league, let alone a transcendent superstar. While Rondo might not have proved he's quite the latter yet, he's certainly established himself as a star who is just a step away (perhaps) from being a transcendent top 5-10 superstar in the NBA.
You don't trade that away for a guy who might be a star and the #10 pick, which has a much better chance to be the next Jeromoe Moiso than the next Paul Pierce.
