Yeah whatever. Statistically can't really defend Nash > Paul. I stand by my comments of him as a leader, but Paul's 08-09 season was a world-beater.

Paul's better than Nash. No question about it.

BUUUUUT, with Pippen already on board, in this particular format, it's open for debate. I think Nash was probably the right selection for you.

this is just me, but since Nash is not a good defender, if he goes against all star PG's, Pippen has to slide down there and take care of it.

Paul would be able to do what Nash does offensively while not as better. But he does not need Pip to defend other PG's. Pippen can stay and guard wings.

By the way, who's up?

You mean until he played Denver in the playoffs and they lost by almost 100?
He hurt his knee late that year, was a shell of himself in the playoffs and couldn't move.

Do injuries like that count for this game? If a guy had an injury the year you picked him does that factor in to deciding the outcome of how a team finishes?

Example:

Player X is killing it the first sixty games of the year in his best statistical season of his career. He then gets hurt and misses the rest of the year. How does that impact a team in this game?

He's injured in this game as well.

If you took Ewing in 98-99, you get the Achilles he suffered in the playoffs.

If you took Dwight Howard for 11-12, you get the back injury and surgery.

Also wrong.

Because he was the leader of those teams. He's had more success in his career as the leader of those teams, and, at the points taken (whatever yr for Paul and the 05-06 year for Nash), he had a ton more experience doing it.

So how is there a counter-arguement there?

Ok cool. That's what made sense to me. So if you chose Paul in 2008-09 you have to take on his injury. Seems it be better to take him in 2007-08 when they made that run against SA.

I will go with the captain, Paul Pierce.  Probably going 01-02 when he could still play SG, but haven't decided yet.  He was a great defender that year and hit the outside shot like a man that year as well, but depending on what happens may go with the title year.

I'm gonna need to get some other good defenders, but I hardly think Pippen is going to obligatorily have to 'slide over' to cover for Nash. Its gonna be a team-defensive game.

Especially since Malone never won a ring, putting a leader like Paul and Finals MVP on the roster shores up that kind of arbitrary and nonsensical but very real weakness.

I am not totally disagreeing with you about Nash over Paul first off. I never gave my opinion on that.

But I really wanted to see your stance as far as leadership. You could argue that Paul did more with what he had around him on his best playoff run then what Nash did with what he had around him on his best playoff run.

However taking into account injuries and teammates I believe the 2005-06 Nash is better then any Chris Paul. My opinion. What he was able to do with Phoenix that yr. was special considering the injuries and where they finished.
